[HEADING=3]Throughout history, various issues where solved through a group effort/unification of people(s).[/HEADING] The example given by the reading is the Indian independence movement, led by the famous Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi. Early on, there was no 'revolution' but a 'rebellion'; violence dealt from both sides without proper organization on the part of the protesters. Even after organized movements came to be, there where too many and they lacked a unfed leadership (they could never be a country n such a state). Not until Ghandi was able to show the nation that peaceful protest was an effective means to solving an issue.
"Gandhi's ability to inspire millions of common people became clear when he used satyagraha during the anti-Rowlatt Act protests in Punjab" (Wikipedia article).
[HEADING=3] In the informatory age, could civil/social problems be solved through the now near-instant communication and social capabilities offered by the internet? [/HEADING]
Gandhi, Martin Luther King. Jr, Nelson Mandela, etc, didn't have the social abilities (offered by the internet/television/etc.) we have today.
[HEADING=3]What's stopping us from solving 'just a few' of the world's problems?[/HEADING]
