On topic: I suppose Google must be a freaking Metropolis. With lots of ads and lots of people coming and going. Heh. Maybe 'metropolis' isn't the right word. More like 'oracle'.

As said above Google would be the mass transit system over the entire surface of the internet with the different cities having subtransit systems of their own.

I'm really starting to like some of the ideas that are coming up, KP Shadow, very nice. But remember, it's not just trolls, I think i'm going to actually try running with this . I'll create a beastiary and what not to show what all the stuff would look like. This could be quite a bit of fun!

Obviously. But I have to say your vision of Deviantart is pretty strange. Sure, 90% of it is shit/crappy anime/or, lord forbid, furries, but there is a 10% of genuine talent and hard work. Deviantart would have to be a city inhabited both by the annoying furry-lovers and the actual 'artists'. After all, it started with artists. And then... the furries came.

Each one tower holds the majority of the city's residents and is a safe zone due to the special task force assigned to protect the citizens of the internet, they are known as "The Ban Hammer".

I would have thought the Task force would be known as "Mods" and be armed with Ban Hammers?? Not just known as Ban Hammers

I thought that my DeviantArt thing was pretty good. I said most of it was shit, but then there was the good stuff. So maybe have it the other way around with "the original experiment produced creatures that could make awesome stuff, but then as the generations went by, the spawn of the originals produced crap with a true work of art being extremely rare"? or something like that.

Yeah, I can sort of see that.

Google would be a skyscraper, 4chan would probably become some sort of demilitarised zone, and TVTropes the equivalent of a crack den.

The Escapist I would imagine to be a small collection of apartment buildings in the middle of nowhere. With food delivery, of course.

Well besides the fact that you made me lose the game, I think this is an interesting idea. But you will have to figure out a proper place for the memes.

Also, here's another idea. Those who live outside the cities have a myth that the cities are actually huge networks of tubes. According to their mythology, the cities are horrible places where tubes are used to house and transport people, but often get clogged simply because of how huge the internet is. Of course this is not true, but all the stupid politicians in these tribes keep insisting that it is.

Scattered throughout some cities and along the transit system, you'll find Freewares. These can be used to improve your abilities, though some of them are more useful then others, and there is a chance any given freeware is really a virus in disguise.

You can also find Browsers, a subset of Freewares. These, you switch between at will.
