Red Dwarf: Just The Shows Vol.1 + 2
Monty Python: The Movies
Russell Howard Live
The Dark Knight
Wanted

I don't buy, or watch, many DVDs. I spend my money on cheap music and video games...
Still have three of the four Pythons to watch along with Wanted. And the DVDs I bought before this lot.

Zombieland (was really excited about it, watched the first half hour and turned it off)
Paranormal Activity (pre-order, hasn't shown up yet.)
Public Enemies (Gift)
Collingwood Story (indie horror, and it was dirt cheap)

If I recall correctly:

Devil May Cry
Lord of the Rings: Extended Edition Trilogy Boxset
Star Wars: Prequel Trilogy
Star Wars: Original Trilogy
Donnie Darko: Directors Cut

Ok that's actually...3 + 12 + 3 + 3 + 2 = 23 DVDs

I finished a lab report on friday and went on a HMV binge. Thirty quid netted me:

Che Part One: The Argentine
Che Part Two: Guerrilla
Gomorrah
Let the Right One In
Maria Full of Grace

I've only got Let the Right One In left to go.

Che
Whilst both parts are pretty good, I enjoyed The Argentine more than Guerrilla, for 3 main reasons:
1 - there was more action in it, especially once they got to Santa Clara.
2 - it was happier, in a way. Guerrilla was always building up to things falling apart, which made everything feel a little flat. You know where the film will end (Che getting shot) and so everything just felt like it was dragging things out before Che dies.
3 - Catalina Sandino Moreno was in The Argentine more, and I fancy the pants off her.

Gomorrah
Have you seen City of God? Did you wish it was slightly less interesting and in Italian, rather than Portuguese? If so, I have a film for you! Gomorrah is alright, it just isn't City of God, and it really wants to be. If you loved City of God, you'll like Gomorrah. If you liked City of God, you'll think Gomorrah is OK. Also; and it may just be me, or it may be the point of the film or whatever, but I couldn't actually tell who was on which side. Except that Maria and Toto were on the same side, eve though Toto's side shot Maria for her son changing sides. Also, I liked Maria and she got shot about 3/4 of the way in, which annoyed me. Especially because the irritating Don Ciro didn't get shot.

Maria Full of Grace
Predictable at times, but it is still pretty good. It took me a while to actually like the main character that I was meant to be empathising with (she comes off as a bit of a brat to start with) but thankfully, there was a secondary character (her friend Blanca) who is more irritating than Maria. Some of the scenes of her 'retrieving' the drugs are stark and slightly disgusting without being tasteless - I thought they managed to convey the lack of dignity of Maria squatting in a bath shitting out pellets of drugs without being crass or pervy enough to show any real detail. Also, the end shot is pretty cool and it left me with a smile on my face so I can't bash it too much for being a touch obvious. Besides, it has Catalina Sandino Moreno in it. Probably my favourite of the four I've seen.

-Ultraviolet (so bad I had to buy it)
Jesus Christ man, why would you do that to yourself? It's not even a cultural relic of badness, or so bad it's actually brilliant. It's just awful. It has no redeeming features. You'd have been better off spending that $5 on a second copy of Underworld. Because although you'd then have two films that were the same, neither of them would be Ultraviolet.

- Elfen Lied
- [REC]
- School Days
[REC] is amazing, watched it by myself, in the dark, at 3am, with all the lights off. My flatmate tried to sneak up on me while I was watching it, nearly stabbed him (had been eating while I was watching it). Elfen Lied is also awesome :).

Anyways on topic: ...I don't buy DVD's anymore. I ask and the internet provides.

Though I Suppose I got the Fullmetal Alchemist box set a while back, and Life of Brian and Fifth Element for Christmas. Oh and I'm borrowing Dorian Grey from someone, does that count?

These are the only DVD's I've bought in the last 6 months. I think I'm slightly addicted to the Doctor Who universe...
