Do you ever take the time to enjoy the little things in a game, like a newspaper, television, radio, all those things? Right now I'm playing through Resistance 2. From the start of the game, I would listen to the little radios. Some dude just commentates the chimera invasion and whatnot. Kinda reminds me of Good Morning, Vietnam. It really adds to the immersion. Just now he did a play-by-play of a father and his son scavenging for food when a bunch of chimera come out of nowhere. They run, kid trips, dad picks up kid, start running again, chimera take dad, dad doesn't make it, kid keeps running, kid almost escapes, chimera catch kid, kid doesn't make it.

tl;dr - do you appreciate the small, unimportant things in video games? If so, what d'you appreciate?

I'm not good at making topics.

It depends entirely on how those little things are presented. In GTA 3 I liked zooming in with a sniper on one of the news-papers on the ground to read about Zombie-Elvis rising up. In GTAIV though, I thought the TV was a bad idea that was made stupid through missed opportunities. If the TV was presented like the comedy club it would have been a bit better. If it gave you a perk or...well, anything than it would be useful.

When it comes to GTA and Saint's Row though, I love cruising around and listening to the radio. Talk radio, especially.

When I first upgraded my computer, I spend 30 minutes playing around with my flashlight in left 4 dead because it was the first time light didn't pass through solid objects onto the surface behind them.

I really enjoy playing the likes of Fallout 3 (and New Vegas) for this reason. You can listen to different radio broadcasts, you can watch kids running down a desolated street chasing a rat, look at the letters and posters on the walls which are completely irrelevant to what you're doing at the time, but it just makes it so much more....alive.

Whatever, just wash your hands.
The first game I saw really impressive physics with is a lesser known game called Hostile Waters: Antaeus Rising, not only did it have physics but it had pretty damn good ones, if you blew up a tower it would collapse in a pretty realistic way, if was very cool to watch and all the things you blew up left neat physics based chunks, damn cool game, really the only time I've seen them done better was in Red Faction Guerrilla.

Deus Ex and Human Revolution (latter more so) are loaded with "little things". Has anyone else noticed these things?

Also, could someone tell me if they mean anything? Are they an Easter Egg or just a little thing to make you go, "hmmm interesting".
