I'm interested in what everyone imagines their Fallout 3 character to be like. Are they like you? Are they badass?

Discribe to me your character's personality!

Also.

Canonically the Vault Dweller and the Chosen One of Fallouts 1 and 2 were males. I personally feel the story is better as a girl. What gender do you think feels better strorywise?

My character would probably be an anti-hero, to be honest. He always does the good karma stuff like giving water to people and not blowing up Megaton, all that stuff. But he's also a cannibal that kills anyone that attacks him, steals every single thing that isn't nailed down, and then steals the stuff that is nailed down, and finally steals the nails. He does whatever is necessary to make himself better, even if it means walking a questionable path sometimes. Oh, and he tries to exterminate Little Lamplight every time he goes, even though he knows it's futile. 'Cause seriously, those little pricks had it coming.

As for your other question, I don't think the storyline of Fallout 3 really matters in terms of gender, to be honest.

I think the vault dweller was a transvestite, caused by the loads of radiation seaping through the earth.

Whenever I make a male character, I make him look like Gordon Freeman and have him use the Scout Armor, which looks like an HEV suit.

For female, I just go with a default one and name her Jessica, because that's the closest female name I could think of to my own (Josh), although I didn't really think to hard on it. On reflection, I probably should have made her look like Alyx and named her accordingly, but I was tired of the whole "theme character" thing by the time I finished with Gordon.

I can't stomach bad stuff (especially nuking Megaton), so my characters are always paragons of idealism and goodness.

Fallout 3 didnt really give me the feel of Lone Wanderer...

FO1 and FO2 did. The quests in both were more epic and symbolical and the villains more fun. While in FO3 the main story felt cliche and a reash of FO1/2 plots.

For those that never played FO1 and FO2 heres some spoilers:

In Fallout 1 you play as a Vault Dweller from Vault 13. Vault 13's Water Chip, a computer chip responsible for the water recycling and pumping machinery, has broken. So you are choosed to find the pieces necessary to repair it till it stops working. In the search for the FEV the Vault dweller unmasks a great conspiracy! A mutant knowed as The Master is developing a virus to turn everyone into super mutant. The player then must stop The Master and destroy the FEV.

In the end the Vault Dweller is cast out of the Vault into exile.

The story starts in the village were the fabled hero from Vault 13 lived till the end of his days. In the village the water has ran out and the conditions are becoming dire for the village folk. So they name a Hero to find Vault 13 in search of the fabled G.E.C.K, to create fertile soil.

When he discovers Vault 13 he finds out that all the Vault Dwellers have disapeered, and then returns to the village to discover that The Enclave has captured everyone he knows. The Chosen One also discovers that The Enclave is killing all the Vault Dwellers and everyone that meet one.

In the end the Chosen One destroys The Enclave, rescues the remaining survivors of Vault 13 and his village and both sides use the G.E.C.K. to create a prosperous village!

My character is a morally ambiguous diplomat. Diplomacy can either be with words, or point-blank-shotgun-in-the-face diplomacy. He helps people out with their problems, doesn't kill anyone who doesn't deserve it, saved Megaton, is a friend to the Ghouls, hates Slavers and Raiders, and supports the Brotherhood of Steel. HOWEVER, he WILL steal anything he sees, with ammo boxes and first aid boxes being his primary weakness. He also loves to cause a ruckus (when I went to Underworld I gave those Ghouls a nice present by destroying their robot's combat inhibitor)

Lawful Chaotic. The "Scout" class of TF2 is a good comparison. Mine is Neutral Chaotic. A good equivalent would be the "Demoman" of TF2

My character started out as an asshole. He blew up Megaton, went to check out the crater and saw Moira all ghoul-ified. It shocked and disturbed him so much he went back to Tenpenny tower and killed Tenpenny and Mr. Burke. In his grief and regret he considered throwing himself off the tower and ending it all, but thought better of it.

He then dedicated his life to righting the wrongs of the world, to atone for his sins.

Also, male is the best in the story for sure. The whole bond between father and son thing is much better.

Even if I try to be evil, I just end up being Neutral. But I usually take the good path.

I do good in the Wasteland, even if it rewards me with negative karma. (For example, I dealt with that weirdo cultist 'Dave' pretty swiftly.) I try my best to protect Megaton. I try to resolve as many problems as I can with diplomacy rather than violence.

To be honest, though, I have very little compassion for most of the people in Vault 101. The only reason I didn't sabotage the place, thus forcing everyone out of it forever, was because I didn't think that old lady who gave me that sweetroll would survive very long in the wastes.

I'm considering taking on Charon as my sidekick, but I'm not sure I want to do what Azrukahl asked. (ie. assassinate the competing barman) I did just enough evil in my current playthrough to allow me to take on Jericho, because I'd never had him as a sidekick before. But now I grow tired of him. Might fire him and take on Butch instead. That'd be surreal!

Everything's better as Evil Lincoln. Being evil is so much more fun.

Anyways, I guess this would b the story. Evil Lincoln was born with an uncanny resemblance to President Lincoln. His father, not being much for creativity, named him Lincoln. Lincoln then grew up in the Vault, solving all his problems by punching people. When he had to leave the vault, he did so by punching his way out.

When he arrived in Megaton, he quickly took up the offer to blow up the town. He saw detonating an atomic bomb as punching every in the town simultaneously with a great, big nuclear fist. When he returned to the ruins of Megaton, he punched the ghoulified Moria in the face for being annoying. He then traveled the wastes preforming acts of horror, and acquired the title Evil Lincoln as the result.

Mine is good but does what HE thinks is a good choice and might go against the law to do it neutral good i belive like in the pitt you get bad karma by siding with ashur but honestly he sounded better because he didn't see the slaves as slaves and he only needed them until the city prospered and really cared for everything...plus I couldent murder the parents and kidnap a baby that apperently gives you "good" karma???

I made mine a nice person at first (around 1/3 of the game) then i got bored as hell and went on a killing spree, killed everyone in megaton (i was nice at first so i didn't blow it up)and named it my own, killed every regulater i found, and sent someone to push the button for me (you know what i mean).

Weather i was good or evil i always stole whatever seemed rare or valuable.

I always prefer to make my person the opposite of what i am, becuase it is pure fun.

Mine is an evil, opportunistic bastard who steals, murders, and insults his way through the game. Physically, he is dirt-covered, trench-coat-clad, sporting a shaven head and an intimidating goatee.

Outside of sparing Megaton,, mercy-killing the Oasis Tree, and helping out Moira, I did every vile act under the sun. I would give slaves and captives false hope by freeing them and then shoot them in the back as they ran. I would maim and dismember every corpse I came across, whether it was of my doing or not. I would rob everyone blind, even the Brotherhood, and allies. I sent little kids running, crying to their mothers. I left a path of heads for people to see all across the Wasteland.

After retrieving the Declaration of Independence, I smashed Sydney with a Super Sledge from one of the downed Super Mutants for her gun. I turned over Harkness to Zimmer. I killed all of The Family to for West's brother. I stormed Tenpenny Tower with Roy.

I am planning to play a nicer character next time around, though.

Oh! I did that too only I was good lady linclon and I longed for a fake beard.

I used it when killing slavers "Eat liberty! Frakkers!"

My own version of the Lone Wanderer was a cheaky gun bunny who sings along to the music on Galaxy News Radio. I always imagined she genuinely liked Moira, although she generally liked everyone.

I thought of her as first an innocent little girl (even tok the child at heart perk) but around the time she gets to GNR she's more of a badass comedy character full of one liners and no common sence. She tries to be diplomatic and polite but she puts her foot in her mouth and has to kill people.

She had a moment of insanity when she goes to Paradice falls and breaks the kids out.... then comes back cosplaying as Linclon. She also had a thing with Bittercup in Bigtown (Such a cute emo kid) and considered bigtowners kindred spirits.
Here's a few of her lines I made up for her:

In the metro:
(Smashes a raider with a sledgehammer and they fall off the platfrom and hit their heads on the track below) "Mind the gap.... jerk"
(Sits on the bench and reads a copy of Dean's Electronics. She looks at her Pipboy3000 periodically) "The 3:15 is late. I'm gonna walk"

Outside Vault 101 after they lock you out.... again:
"Screw you! I'm gonna go make my own vault Amata! And you won't be invited!"
or
"Hey did I leave dogmeat in there?"

in Little Lamplight:
(Upon meeting Sticky)
"Shall I kill you now and save the slavers some time?"
(upon taking to Princess)
"You know there's a lady outside with a helmet that has candy for you"

I also started an evil slaver character, and walked around mezzing people and giving them "special friendship necklaces".
