At least the title isn't lame...

Here's the idea: maybe some, like me, have this great talent to come up with somewhat great/good/mediocre original thread ideas, but just like me everything you touch turns into shit.

The purpose of this thread is to be a source of inspiration for others, and a place to express ideas of how to make a thread better.

Ok I'll start so you can have an example:

- a thread that analysis humour and how it varies form culture to culture/country to country; a thread in which one would explain what influences humour and what certain types of it exist.
- a "my first" thread that would make a huge list of all of your firsts(so we won't repeat it ever again, nor do variations upon it)

And as an idea to help refresh this forum: let's look back on old threads that were cool that were just neglected by time.

Anyway, like all threads that I make this will be a flop, so at the very least I don't have to worry that you guys, will point out my bad grammar and writing skills :p

P.S: I just had to make this goofy thread; it's been haunting my dreams for a few days now.

Please, no more goofy poll options. I'm all for a "all/none of the above" and even a "wait, what?" here and there but no more "I liek pie", "charizard", or especially "show me the results".

I don't know if this is an acceptable reply for this thread but I had to write this somewhere.

Make it about me

No, seriously, MAKE IT ABOUT ME! Everyone is going to hate on it, but you'll get tons of comments!

Nobody loves me...

In all seriousness though, when making a thread promoting discussion, write in the OP what you want to see in the comment section. Should stop your supposedly brilliant thread idea from starting off stupid.

And I shall jump on the bandwagon by saying no silly poll options.

They kill grandmas.

Agreed. Only include options that actually contribute something. I've had it up to here with the damn "I like pizza!" options in polls about whether Avatar was overrated.

Aww, I'll love you? lmao.

OT:
Well, from my experience, whether a thread is a flop or a success is rather random, and can depend on the title. Coz a boring title, noon will look at it. Something thats new and stands out, ppl will look at.

I'm agreeing with the 'no silly poll options' thing like everyone else. I'd like to see more witty/comedic play with the serious poll options. Say yes, then throw in a witty comment related to the question.

Yeah, or phrase the good poll options in a funny way.

If you want to be taken seriously, really think about your OP. Grammar and spelling, appropriate language, sources (be they news, authors or personal experience) and not mentioning age (unless it relates directly) are all important. I read an OP recently where he said he was a 15 year old philisipher (I think that was the spelling he used) and as earnest as I could tell he was trying to be, I couldn't take him seriously enough to make what I felt was an appropriate response.

If you read this mate, sorry.

Does my trademark "Other/I are so quirky" count as funny"?

Have a funny OP, which is something I can do if bothered, and also if people get probed or suspended in your thread, then every time they post they're plugging your thread!
