I'll second that idea.

Maybe games just aren't as popular with our city? :/
They were popular enough, I was in there every weekend and most Saturdays it was packed.

I just think not enough people knew about it.

Or too many people had that 'I'll try it out sometime later' attitude and didn't bother.

Easily one of the best LAN gaming centres I've been to... the staff and other customers were friendly, funny and the competitions were beastly.

I have to admit, I'm rather curious about this "Mana Bar" of Yahtzee's. I've hearing about it on this site, mainly around its initial opening, and while the concept did strike me as an interesting one, I entertain no illusions of going there in the near future (seeing as I live on the other side of the planet).
Yeah, for the endorsement it got on this site, I'm actually suprised to see how little interest it generated amongst the Escapist community. Or maybe there just isn't enough people from brisbane on here, or maybe everyone else is just being quietly jealous :p

From your description I'm picturing something alot more like 'The Bunker', a place that, as the theme seems to be, closed down a while ago. A place more about LAN'ing 50 or 60 PC's, like a giant PC gaming cafe. I have a few good memories about stuff like that, all night sessions playing C&C Generals and Age of Mythology with mates :p

But if that's the idea, then no, the Mana Bar isn't like that at all. It's a small nightclub with a heavy 'gamer' theme. You can see plenty of photos on their facebook page :)

Yeah I'm aware The Mana Bar is a bar/club with a gamer theme.

Nothing could rival Omega Sektor... it was a LAN gaming centre first, with a small bar and a few chill out areas with Relentless drinks machines.

Still The Mana Bar is the closest thing that might not fail spectacularly.

I really want to go there now. Maybe when Im in Australia next.

IVe got no illusions about having something similar where I live. Its a city, but we dont even have an arcade. I want to play Dance Dance Revolution FFS.

BTW, did they have DDR?

No. No, they do not.

OT: Can't wait to be able to get over their and try the drinks.... Also, Yug deserves more credit than this review gives him. Sorry bro, but he was the main force behind the idea.

Yep, Yugs the main man, it's his baby; he dreamed it up and pushed fucking hard (mainly uphill) to make it happen. He handles all the PR and works the bar, which, as I mentioned before, is both somewhat unique and totally awesome. Shay is the head barman who comes up with all the tasty gaming themed cocktails. Pras works the books and Yahtzee is the 'celebrity head' who hosts the trivia nights and special events. It's a tasty recipie for awesome!

Actually just watch this....

I've been there once, and nearly passed out from the amount of awesome when 2 bunny girls walked in and proceeded to thrash me at Tekken. I will be making it a regular thing to visit there when I find a place to rent in the city, as I am now, I'm just over an hour out of the city, making it difficult to get back after a few Mana Potions.

All you Australians better go there and put all your money into that place so it gets successful enough to expand to America so I can go to one! Also it would be nice if you could send Yahtzee to cut the red tape so I can get his autograph.
