I was really surprised the other day when i discovered their was so much disdain for "Enter the Matrix" and "Path of Neo".
Granted "Path of Neo" had some minor problems, but it was still a mad fun game.
"Enter the Matrix" is the definition of fun. Slow motion gun play and fighting, i had heaps of fun playing them.
People told me they were too buggy, What bugs?
Were you a fan of "The Matrix" games, or did you dislike them?
Also, any ideas for what the future Matrix games should include?

sorry I didn't mean for that to sound so hostile.

Basically, a lot of people were disappointed with the Matrix sequels, and the matrix games reeked of those sequels.

The first Matrix was bliss, but the sequels had a lot of the soul removed forcefully. This may be due to the ability to throw money at a problem instead of coming up with conventional ways to do unconventional things.. like, could you imagine the Matrix with the Bullet Time sequence redone to look like garbage CGI? It could also be due to the fact that the directors of the movies went Snookinloopy after the success of the original movie.

the same people that hated the matrix sequels hated the matrix games.

But again, if you enjoyed them, you should feel good that you have something that you can enjoy all to yourself like your little precious One Ring.

Apparently, it's the Gamecube version of Enter the Matrix that is riddled with bugs. I've only played the PS2 version, but that's what I've heard. As for the gameplay I agree that it was kind of fun, but it just felt rushed and half-finished. Path of Neo was a step in the right direction, but it felt like too little too late. After the false start of the Matrix Online, I'm not sure there will be another game. Maybe that's okay though. The first movie will forever be a defining film of its era, so I'm okay with them not crapping all over it with subpar sequels and games.

Why the hate? Well... Because they're bad? I enjoyed EtM, but I could see that it was a terrible game. The guns felt weedy, the animation was choppy, and the vehicle sections were horrific. The fighting was... It felt like the Matrix, sure, but it was fairly poor. I can't remember any enemies requiring any real thought to kill, aside from a few infuriating bosses.

The hacking bit was a lovely little touch. It was far too text-heavy for a virtual keyboard, though.

It's true that the games had some flaws, but I honestly don't believe they deserve all the flak they get. Personally, I loved Enter the Matrix. Played it for weeks, especially the Agent stages. They say to just run, that trying to fight an Agent is suicide for anyone except the One... But I just can't resist.

Um, I guess they catch a lot of bad press because everyone thinks they're bad games. It's the trend, you know? Like hating Final Fantasy VII.

They were okay. None of them quite delivered what they could've. We need a "Matrix Unleashed" game!

Lol, so true, especially fighting the agent in the plane, that was awesome

I thought they were fun for the first hour or so... you know, with the slow-motion features, but eventually, it wore on me and I simply got bored. They're too repetitive: Punch this guy really fast, go slowmo, fast punch, slowmo, you have enough ammo to shoot your gun, you missed, fast punch.

Buggy, its a word described if you get stuck between two pipes and iar.
but it was still awsome! and the fighting was good, but the time you had to use a flashlight wich barely lit anything.

Enter the Matrix? Hey, 2003 called, it wants its game back.

Anyway, the games were mediocre at best. However, they mainly got bashed because of the terrible reception that the two Matrix (movie) sequels received.

I will admit that I did enjoy the dramatic running sequences with the Matrix music.

Enter the Matrix was loads of fun, for me anyway. Slow-motion kicking, jumping, punching and shooting is awesome!

Never played Path of Neo, a friend of mine has it and last time I saw it, it looked decent. Though, Enter the Matrix also only looks decent, when I actually played it, it was awesome!

(bit too much 'awesome!'?)

I played the PC version of Enter the Matrix. I found it an enjoyable game, but only because I liked the Matrix trilogy enough to forgive the bugs and glitches.

I had sound drop from cutscenes, poor clipping, atrocious physics in the driving sequences, and a crappy aiming system. I appreciated how EtM slotted itself story-wise between the second and third movies, but the horrible graphics in some cutscenes shattered my suspension of disbelief too often.

..but at the end of day, I could jack into the Matrix, use bullet time, shoot guys, and do kung fu. It was all good. Especially since I picked it up in the bargain bin at Best Buy.

I never played Path of Neo, but Enter the Matrix stands out as probably the worst purchase I ever made. It taught me a valuable lesson; you can't trust gaming journalism. At the time, I had a subscription to PC Gamer magazine, and I'd pre-ordered a copy when they ran a cover story on it that made it sound awesome. I brought it home, started playing, and I was only in the second level when I realized that I was bored. The combat was boring. Nothing interesting ever happened. It didn't even look very good; I was just button-mashing as a bunch of slow-motion gunshots and punches occurred much slower than I was controlling them and with very little apparent need for me to control them at all - it was all autoaim. As I forced myself to plow through it, I became further frustrated by the fact that all of the cool stuff that I wanted to do was in the cutscenes.

Since I'd spent 60 of my hard-earned dollars on it, I plowed through, hoping it would get better, but it never did. One day I opened it up and all of the textures were warped and grainy; this never fixed itself. I got to a railed level where you run away from those robots chasing your ship in the real world; it may have been the last level, I don't know. I got frustrated with it, and never came back. It was a bad, bad game, and I felt ripped off by it. At least I only had to pay $10 to see the sequel movies (although they were worse movies than Enter the Matrix was a game).

I loved them! I didnt encounter any bugs in the game. The combat was fast paced and fun. The bullet time slo-mo kicked ass. What more could you want from a game like this!
