What stronger testimony could there be to the instinctive consciousness that concealment is debauching, and openness our only cure, than the world-old conviction of the virtue of confession for the soul, and that the uttermost exposing of one's worst and foulest is the frst step towards moral health?
Firstly; woo, obscure sci-fi reference!

Now, we all do things that we're not proud of. As many of us are regular posters on the Escapist, it would figure that some of these foul deeds and deceptions take place here.

I, for example, while exalting the the intelligent conversation to be found here spend most of my time in the Off-Topic section writing about rhinoceros stools and correcting people's grammar.

Yes, the Religion and Politics forums are flourishing, but they daunt. A sort of moral cowardice prevents me from posting there, because I tell myself that the right opinion has been posted a thousand times more eloquently by somebody else anyway.

I report gross misspellings while most of what I post is extremely poorly-written.

So..Yep. What posting habits are you people not exactly proud of?

How do you manage to get first post so often? I'm imagining a set of hyper-sensitive internet relays, a supercomputer and sci-fi alarm sirens here..

Me?

Whenever I see a thread that I know is going to make me furious beyond measure I can almost never resist posting on it anyway.

I mean threads like, "I live in Britain, have never touched a gun in my life and have never been to the States, but god you American fuckers need more gun control."

From the very word 'go' I know that getting involved in that will do nothing good for my sanity or blood pressure yet it takes a considerable amount of willpower for me to stay away from it.

This forum and the couple others I visit usually work in cycles:

I post for awhile, then I get more emotionally involved in a couple threads than I really should, I say to myself that posting there isn't healthy for me, then comes the swearing to never go back there in a burst of fury, and after a few months of avoiding the place like the plague I always end up coming back again.

Thus the circle of life continues.

Before anyone accuses me of snark no, this thread is not of the 'make me angry' kind.

I guess I can appear cold and indifferent occasionally. But that's more to do with my character than posting habits.
I'm also overly-stubborn when I get into arguments, and a bit patronising.

I'm sorry, none of these are posting habits. I..........occasionally criticize grammar?

I tend to get very easily annoyed and agitated when common stereotypes about my country pop up, I'm just so unimaginably sick of them... fortunately I've learned some restraint after being told off by the mods, so whenever I see that stuff now I just leave the thread without venting my frustration in it.
So, I guess that means no more bad posting habits on my end. Yay...?

You don't say, Fabian!. This is a total shock to me!.

OT: I like my posting habits, though I tend to go over what I said a lot and make edits. Like I did now. Usually its because my original answer is too short or too long and I have to edit it in the interest of making the post relevant.

Sitting here and going over my last post I realized one of my other major posting 'bad' habits:

I always seem to use ten or so sentences when one or two will do.

I can almost never just say, "I post in threads that make me angry when I shouldn't." No, I sit here wasting time typing out why that is and the result of the behavior. It's a fairly regular occurrence for me to sit for a HALF AN HOUR waxing poetic about how quicktime events suck just to realize that I've been rambling for two or three paragraphs and end up going highlight+delete for the sake of brevity. The worst part is that I over analyze the things I write to the point that I've utterly convinced myself that I suck at writing and am wasting other peoples time with my shitty purple-prose as well.

Yet time after time I can't help just going on and on on a topic that only needed twenty words at most. This is ironic considering that when talking to people face to face I can't fucking stand it when someone blathers on for five minutes when five words would do.

...

Of course, I just now notice that I'm FUCKING RAMBLING AGAIN.

Blah.

Yeah. I do this too. E-vanity, I call it. Still, it's much better than a shoddy reply.

They are ninjas. Do not question them lest they ninja you.

OT: I use certain pictures more often then I'd like to. I would post it here but I've recently gone two days without posting them and I want it to stay that way.

I always seem to end up as the guy who's acting like your older brother, trying to keep the peace and not get caught up in the flaming that seems to occur more often than it should. I sometimes feeel like I come off as arrogant or condescending, which I don't mean to at all. And I seem to play devil's advoccate more than I should. My bad, sorry 'bout that.

I need to shut up about people's grammar. Also I tend to espouse acceptance, and then get involved in anti-religion, anti-capitalist, environmental (you name it) rants.
