I recently discovered that my dog has a malignant tumour in her lower jaw. For anyone that doesn't know what that means, she has cancer; with at best, 6 weeks to live. She will soon be making that tip to "the special farm".

I was prepared for her death a while ago (A Labrador/Flatcoat cross like herself has a lifespan of around 12 years, where she is 15), but it reently hit home that I could lose a friend that I have had for as long as I can remember.

So, Escapees, this is a thread to reminisce over lost pets, or to mourn those recently lost.

Took in a stray cat a while back and she had one particular kitten that was adorable. Don't know why I became so attached to him, but after a year when we found out he had FIV (cat AIDS) and wouldn't live that long without great pain we had to put him down.

My most vivid memory of that day is digging the grave. Not something I'd repeat in a hurry.

I'm really sorry to hear about your dog. =[

I... I wanna post, but I think Maraveno kinda owns the thread now. :<

Still.. R.I.P Izzi. You were taken after I'd only known you 2 or 3 years >_> Much too soon.
You're purring in kitty heaven now ;-;

No, Every grief is equal mine is no worse then yours it may be more weighted for me as goes towards my mental stability
But your loss is no less by it
Still, your situation does sound far worse. All I can offer is virtual hugs? (>;-;)>

I adopted a kitten, and named him Reno. He was a ginger tabby with bright green eyes, and so smart and fun... he chased foil balls and would respond when I snapped and called my name. I even taught him to 'heel', like a dog.

When I divorced my ex, I couldn't take Reno with me to the place I was living. When I was finally able to come get him, I discovered that my ex had abused him horribly. Moving, some incidents occurred, and two of my roommates decided to lock him in a room with no food or water for three days.

Reno went crazy, and we couldn't keep him... I had to send him to the pound. They euthanized him, and it breaks my heart. I miss my baby so much.

I've lost two cats over the years. Both made it to 16.

You will be missed Re-re sweetest dog ever and one of the best friends i've every had. My only regret is that we let you suffer as long as we did.

And too Dillion, I wish we knew before you pulled the trigger about how you feel. To my science teacher and friend, at least you passed away peacfully.

I lost my cat Abbie about 2 years ago. She was the first pet that I picked out. She was born deaf and had a growth problem. At about 6 months old, that was as big as she ever would have gotten.

She was 2 years old when I had to have her put down due to an extremely rare kidney disease.
