Hello, people.
Minecraft is a good game, is it not?It saves often, so even if it crashes, it doesn't lose it's progress. However.
Just a few minutes ago, my computer crashed - and my entire collection of minecraft saves were one - wiped completely. They just were no longer in eistance.
So, a questions:
Any ideas on how to retrieve 'em? Please?

In other news, the halloween update is awesome.

I'm afraid im a bearer of bad new for you , friend. :(

Theres no way to retrieve you save games that i know of, Notch himself said don't get to attatched to your savefiles though.

I'll also be checking out the halloween update later, it looks good from everything that ive seen of it and i feel a well decorated portal room to hell will be a great addition to my underground lair.

you COULD try playing in the browser side version cause i noticed once it retained the save files from the pc i was playing on. Just a suggestion though so it might not work.

In an attempt to cheer you up here, this always puts a smile on my face.

I would probably agree with the Minecraft bug thing.

I never undertake any massive projects in Minecraft anyway, so even if my saves were wiped I wouldn't really care...

The game is in alpha so treating your current save files as long term is generally a bad idea. That doesn't mean that you shouldn't make anything cause you are guaranteed to lose it, but you should keep it in mind.

A general trick you can do is make copies of your save games (in the browser version) and save them elsewhere. That way, you can get around big mistakes or glitches with your main saves. This technique takes a while (the save folders often get quite large), but it basically allows you to load saves like you would any other game; useful if you accidently step into lava 1000s of feet below ground, away from the spawn point.
