The Modern Condition

Recently,we have had a lot of lay offs in my area's schools and as a result,things are being thrown apart.I know some of the teachers and it isn't right,but the more used means of defense seems to be protest and then dumb protest at that (like showing up in a red coat suit to protest star wars).I don't like what is happening but it continues anyway and I doubt much word is going to spread to the higher-ups the "kings" as I think them.
So,Escapists how has the economy recently affected you and do you have any suggestions to my situation?
Edit:This can be in anyway from game inhalation to mansion decisions.
