Hmm, I've tried making my own avatar and uploading it, but it does not appear to be working.

The image is this:

I have tried the upload option and the link from URL option, but I keep getting the generic bad image link icon. Can anyone tell me why this isn't working for me?

Clear your cache. If that doesn't work, panic and flail about aimlessly until it does.

Reducing the dimensions of the gif to 85 x 85 should reduce it quite a bit. And depending on where and how you save should also help. Actually, do you want me to remake it? I'll be able to get rid of that disgusting, disgusting watermark.

It's 85 x 85 and 119KB, so it should be fine.

Bah, someone stole my av and made it better. Oh well, I've got 60 others that weren't included in this thread for some reason...

I couldn't find that the name/link to the file you gave me so I didn't include it.

On avatar: I sort of want a fancier one, but I'm not sure exactly what I'd like. I am somewhat inspired by today's CM and the tetris design of one of our now former mods. I thought of perhaps having a tetris design where when "ART" was spelled out, it would be destroyed, but I also suppose a tetris version of EDA Erin would work fine too.
