Southern Utah, Arches National Park, Canyonlands, Lake Powell, Goblin Valley, Capital Reef, and the San Rafael Swell. These were the inspiration for the Spaceman Spiff comics in Calvin and Hobbes. If you can take out a PWC on Lake Powell you can find slot canyons and drive in caves, cliffs for jumping from and 100 foot cliffs of painted rock. And if you go to the right place you find yourself in what seems to be a giant conch shell buried vertically in the sand with a little beach inside. The official maps call it Margaritaville. The goblins of Goblin Valley make the worlds greatest natural paintball arena though paintballing is not allowed airsoft is fun. Canyonlands is upriver of the Grand Canyon an offers a great vista of the curvature of the earth. If you want to see real petroglyphs, Capital Reef has them. As for the San Rafael Swell, it has to be seen to be believed. It is like a giant wave, the size of a mountain range, was turned to stone just as it was crashing ashore. For a quick taste, drive I-70 east to west in the morning, this will remind you of the freeway scene in Cars where the road made you miss the beautiful terrain by cutting right through it.

I once took a helicopter ride in Alaska. We landed on a frozen waterfall. That was amazing. Also, I went on a trip in Hawaii, where I visited a series of rocky hills. It was desolate, like being on Mars, but it was the first time in my life that I heard pure, utter silence.

Let's see... what else...

The Great Wall of China is wonderful, but now they have this stupid, ugly Beijing Olympics sign there. It's a complete eyesore.

I go to India every summer, and the Taj Mahal was the first man-made structure to ever impress me.

One place I want to visit is Echo Harbor, in Antarctica. I saw it in one of those "Where is Matt?" dancing videos, and I immediately wanted to go.

But in all, definitely go to Alaska. When I went there, I seriously considered moving there. It is truly the United State's last great frontier, full of natural beauty. Hawaii has lots of natural beauty, but it's too touristy.

Sorry for the rambling post. I'm too tired.

The UAE. While their big cities are urban sludgepuddles, they have some awesome natural environment over there.

I went to New Zealand and saw the glaciers, they were awesome. Also saw the mountains and lake used in the Lord of the Rings movie.

Top of the Rockefeller centre, New York. At night. In the middle of a thunderstorm. On my birthday.

I'd suggest Japan. It's got modern stuff and traditional stuff. You can see them blended together or seperately.
