Who would you consider to be one of the most deadly enemies you've ever encountered in a game?

My personal choice would be the Ogre from Quake.....

That bastard is so damn accurate with his grenades it's ricockulous. The Ogres were placed in the most convenient places ever.... that were NEVER in your favor, their accuracy was unparalleled with a grenade launcher, and they can screw you over so fast it's unbelievable.

Well they're not really deadly on their own but I still dread them - Black Headcrabs from Half Life 2. For the uninitated, they knock your health down to 1HP on hit, but your health regenerates after a few seconds back to nearly full HP (they only go 1HP damage). This means that for a few seconds, ANYTHING else will kill you.

I once got killed by them because one jumped out and hit me, I was so surprised that I accidently fell off the ledge and was killed. Normally I would have lost around 2 HP from falling because it was a fucking small drop but that bastard made me die because of it.

I would say for a generic character, the chainsaw wielding guy from RE4 but for a boss I would say the time you go up against two at the same time if you choose the left path after the zombie home invasion part of RE4. so anything with a chainsaw in RE4, but not RE5

Those infernal monkeys!

Facehuggers from AvP

Archviles from Doom 2. Not from Doom 3, like everything else in that game, they could be dispatched by way of chainsaw with minimal effort.

The Yeti from Skifree.

Shredder from the TMNT arcade game

Blinky, from Ms Pacman. Oh, many a time have I cursed the name Blinky in the cold glow of that ancient arcade cabinet.

The face huggers from AvP

The mutant soldiers from Far cry when you get kicked from the helicopter & you have 15 rounds

the Queen Alien from the old Aliens arcade game

The final boss on Space Gun (old arcade game) the boss hides behind the flight computer on the ship you need to escape on, destroy the computer you loose!

The deadliest common enemy, in my opinion of course, is the Limos´ in Titan Quest. they drain shittons of your health, and while your being drained, youre slower, and they dont have to channel the drain.

deadliest boss? Typhon from the same game. because EVERY single one of his moves except the thorned chest can kill you in 1 or 2 hits (depends on the attack).

The Poison Headcrabs. I hate those things, and the zombie they inhabit.

The 'warrior soldiers' of Ahriman in Prince of Persia.

They deflect all of your sword attacks, then change state to be immune to anything BUT sword attacks, it's a real problem in games in my view when a generic enemy is harder to beat then the bosses

the magic dragons from finla fantasy 4.

seriously, if you don't kill them fast, you'll need to waste a lot of magic/items healing your team.

The Dahaka from Warrior Within. All you could do was run from that guy. Still one of the creepiest enemies I've ever faced in a game.

So your most deadly enemy is one that can't even kill you? ;)

I think the question is rather pointless. All you have to do is give a bot a gun and turn up how fast they respond and how accurate they shoot. So pretty much anyone holding a rifle in tons of games like Far Cry, STALKER, Deus Ex, AA (those AI shoot through concrete, trees, doors, and fog half a mile away)

Berskers, simply because the first time I saw them I thought "well, I'm screwed"

But then you get used to them, know where to go and it's lost it's charm.

Oh and anyone with genades in Cod 5 on vetern.

The first time I Remember thinking "Oh shit, I'm screwed" in a game was the first time I encountered the Spider Queen in Okami. WHY IS IT ALWAYS SPIDERS?!?! It was about 2:30 in the morning and for some reason, I decided that it would be a good idea to carry on with the game, instead of leaving it til the next day. Took me an hour and a half to beat her! Funny thing is, I can beat those spiders in about 8 minutes now...

I thought that too! Hated General Raam as well, that bastard. Especially on Hardcore (haven't got round to doing it on Insane yet...)

Yes, if it is not the most deadly, it is my most feared.
I agree with the STALKER assertion, the AI is why I never got into that game. I think they all wore bullet proof vests, helmets, and pants, and they had homing bullets.
