What is the most difficult boss you defeated recently? It doesn't necessarily have to be the hardest boss you've ever fought, just one that you had some trouble with as of late.

For me, that would be Diciple Aihtirol from Xenoblade Chronicles.

This boss took me quite a few tries before I could defeat it. What it likes to do is to summon these elementals, that not only boost it's defenses to a ridiculous degree, but had some pretty high defense themselves as well. It didn't help the main boss was really big, so it liked to push me and my party members into the ether pools that surround the battle arena.

It took me a while before I realized I could use Melia's AOE magic attacks to quickly get rid of the elementals in order to get rid of the main boss's defenses. And even then, it took a couple of tries before I finally took it down.

Ornstein and Smough, the bosses of Anor Londo in Demon Souls. I did summon Solaire but he lasted maybe thirty seconds. Had to spend forever in Anor Londo leveling my gear and character.

Egh...that's a tough one.
It's a toss-up between Mom's Heart, War or Gurdy*.

*(who isn't that tough once you figure out his gimmick. Gurdy Jr. is actually quite a bit tougher since he's much, er, faster)

Vergil 2 - Devil May Cry 3. Eventually said screw it and used that gold orb I found at the start of the game. Ruined my rank but eh I'll live. Thank god he goes back to a more manageable movelist for the third fight.

The Harvester from Golem of Amgarrak. It's a pretty decent fight in all, very challenging, but the primary reason it's so hard is because of the shitty party you've been given. Unless you're a mage(which I wasn't), you've got no dedicated healer, which sucks. I had to turn the difficulty down from nightmare to hard(which I was loath to do), because I was getting too frustrated with not even getting to the second phase. I think my next playthrough of that will be with a mage, where I've semi-begun my playthrough of Origins with that character, because then I can either respec her to a healer or an arcane warrior, depending on what fits better at that time.

I don't know if you play online or not, but if you do, summoning another player is a great help. I did that and having someone else, so both bosses aren't focusing on you alone makes the fight a lot easier.

Beat me to it. I just played through the first Dragon Age and its DLC, and that boss was...ugh. And that's while playing as a Blood Mage/Spirit Healer. The thing hit like a truck, had a good deal of hp and damage reducing abilities and consistently summoned allies to fight alongside it. Worse still, there's no hard cap on what it can summon. In one of my playthroughs, it summoned a boss calibur minion, which unfortunately could hit just as hard as the Harvester itself. It wasn't until I switched the rogue they gave me to an archer and used his last skill point on "Accuracy" that I got anywhere with it, and that was largely becuase it decided to chase me almost constantly and let that archer attack it without impedement.

Lu Bu Fengxian in Fate Extra. Took me like 10 tries, while it only took me one try each for the two final bosses after him. Even outside of Dynasty Warriors he is op as fuck.

A few months ago I was having problems taking down the Judge in Poacher. Love the music during that fight though, especially part 3. I converted all the sound files to mp3, and put some of them into my main playlist. Aside from that... shit, I need some new games, I'm just way too poor.

Well I just got done beating Isaac for the third time and compared to the Mask of Infamy he was easy to beat.I hate the Mask of Infamy hardest boss I've beaten in a while.

Just beat Grigori(final boss of dragons dogma) for the think 4th time.(Multiple characters)

Normally he's a pushover, but not when you are rank 1 mystic knight, have no healer, and are level 34.

I like to grinded my teeth to dust in that fight.

Yea, the adds was my biggest problem as well(as it is with everyone, I think). My character was a rogue, specced for archery and I ended up respecced that other rogue to an archer as well, since he ended up pulling a lot of aggro and dying so having him some distance away helped that problem. I dealt with the adds by soaking damage and pulling the lever until right before phase 2, where I pulled it just before he died, to ensure there were no adds for phase 2 and then that phase was just a cakewalk. Having a lot of bombs for phase 1 helped a lot as well.

As I wrote in my earlier post, my biggest issue and the "hardest" part of that fight was dealing with a shitty party. I feel like that with my regular party from DA:O, this fight would have been a lot more manageable. Still not easy, because it's actually a pretty challenging fight, but a lot easier to control. The lack of a dedicated healer and a lot of buffs really hurt my output and survivability a lot. I'd really have preferred it to be implemented as an optional boss in DA:O.

Evrae... the battle consisted of backing the ship up and cheering till Auron, Tidus and Wakka were able to defeat the thing in two rounds. It took half an hour.

Alex Mercer in Prototype 2. On HARD. It was sad having to kill him, I really liked him as a character.

Off Topic: You should put a spoiler tag in the title.

Well, I'm playing through Jedi Knight, Jedi Academy, and I remember the lost boss being really hard, so it will probably be him soon, but for now, the Tomb Master from Kung Fu Strike, the Warrior's Rise. Evil bastard that he was.

I think its been awhile since I've fought an actual hard boss. The last big boss I fought was the end dragon in Skyrim but that wasn't so much difficult, it was more time consuming and tedious.

Haven't played a game with decent boss battles in some time. Have been playing a bit of Demon's Souls on NG+++ about a month ago. False King and Flamelurker will always be annoying as hell.

Same here. I've been running around in Persona 3 FES myself, and I find that the leveling is a bit harder than the bosses.

At least, I think I'm still in the first act, so that may change quickly. However, I will give The Emperor and Empress some credit for killing a character once or twice.

Sephiroth in Kingdom Hearts II. Not as hard as in the first one, but the hardest thing in KHII.
