Have you ever played a game that looks at convention, then decides to try and do exactly the opposite of it. Not necessarily good games. Just games that decided to screw the common tone of games for their time and went nuts with what games could really do.

(i.e)Shadow of the Collosus, Ico, Metroid, Zelda, etc.

Ninja'd in the first post.

How the hell do Metroid and Zelda count though?

Killer 7. What a bizarre control scheme. I couldn't get used to it and enjoy it.

There was a skateboarding game for the Playstation 2, that used a plastic skateboard that you attatched to the controllers analog sticks, to manuver your character. WIERD CONCEPT.

And that's still less stupid than Tony Hawk: Ride

Typing of the Dead is my pick for an odd game.

Turok definitely. What is weirder than a native american going through a black hole and ending up in a world full or lizard people and dinosaurs?

Metroid allowed you to move to the left in a sidescroller.
Even though that halfway explains why people loved such a bad game, it hardly counts as odd.

Zelda had a broad open-world map.
While that may have been new, it certainly isn't odd either.

Robot Alchemic Drive

Farenheit

Psychonauts (simple plattformer, except for where you fight all kind of neuropathies from the inside)

Maybe, just maybe, Silent Hill: Shattered Memories

And of course other that were mentioned before. (katamari Damacy, Killer7, SotC, etc, im a big fan of weird games)

Grand Theft Auto. Really was the first game that gave an urban enviroment and encouraged you to break the law and be violent rather than the usual being the hero.

Although Postal came out around the same time. Postal would be a good game to go here as well for basically the same reasons.

Odd it´s not the same that groundbreaking. I think Metroid, Zelda and GTA shouldn´t be here.

Jet Set Radio Future.

Granted, I freaking loved that game when I was a kid. But when it comes to oddity, it's pretty hard to top Jet Set Radio.

Odd? Karoshi. Instead of preserving your life, you move throught levels by finding ways to kill yourself. Go look it up, it's a heap of fun.
