Darth Bane.

He helped destroy the former Sith order, rebuilt it under the rule of two, and might have still been alive up until Darth Sidious dies in Return of the Jedi

I believe we don't have a winner yet, as it seems with every game and book we get, the limits are raised even higher.

Mark my words, in the next Force Unleashed game, the protagonist will end up thougher and stronger than Darth Bane has ever been portrayed as.

Galen Marek? Yeah, sure, we all know the end of Force Unleashed, but look at him. Star Destroyer? Pussy. He pulled one of those out of the sky while swatting away TIEs, no problem. Kicked Anakin Skywalker's ass for sure, and would probably have killed the Emperor if it wasn't for "important" canon ruining his fun.
And yeah, what about that Sith Lord Palpatine told Anakin about during his temptation? The near-immortal one? I'm not sure if he was mentioned in this thread before, don't know his name. Sue me.
There's ones in the Expanded Universe with CRAZY. ASS. SHIT. going for them though, so I can't be sure.

Anakin could have been, but we all know how that turned out.

Personally I'd say Revan.

Mace Windu. He doesn't even need his pimpin' purple lightsaber. He can take out an army with his bare fists.

Also, Samuel L. Jackson.

Sith-wise, I'd probably say either Darth Bane or Darth Plagueis. The former rebuilt the entire Sith order while the latter could directly interfere with life itself, granting or taking it with just the Force.

Jedi-wise, Luke. While in the films he's a bit bland, in the Expanded Universe he gets better with every piece of fiction written about him.

Technically, canonically, it would be Anakin, even if never achieved his full potential, and was later weakened quite a lot by all those mechanical replacements.

Galen Marek, while the flashiest presented, so far, wasn't as powerful, and had much less control.

As to who actually had so much power, and the ability to use it, the non-canonical evil Kyle Katarn, taking control of the valley of the jedi certainly qualifies, Marka Ragnos gets style points for coming back from the dead twice, at least, despite not being very powerful.

Revan gets a lot of points for just pure tenacity, and succesful use of his (canonically) power, (noncanonically) taking over most of the galaxy bordering on four times (sure, the mandalorians didn't have more than half under their control, but taking tback that, then taking most of the republic, then beating back Malak and taking everything back, and then going dark side and conquering the republic at least counts for something).

The jedi exile was also quite interesting, and while Nihilus, and Sion sure were powerful, both being, pretty much, immortal, the jedi exile, by virtue of her (again, canonically) powers, would be capable of that herself, hell, she almost extinguished the force completely, and absorbed the power of everyone she came across. She was also quite adept at directing the power she gained in a useful direction.

Sidious, of course, is canonically seen as pretty much the greatest sith out there, escaping death hundreds of times, and forging a pretty neat empire for himself, but I always found him overrated. He didn't really accomplish all that much, and his way of cheating death was just a way of slowing it down.

Darth Maul, he was badass and only got killed by a cheap shot and for jedi I'd say Qui-Gon he became a force spirit and taught Yoda how to become one too.

General grievous. I don't care if he's not a Jedi or a sith. He's the best. All others are wrong. He's not dead. He's only pretending.

Anakin coud be the strongest if it was for the fact he lost all limbs (or most. i forgot)

Hmn so Darth Nihilus for the fact he can blow up a planet.

I don't know much about star wars aside from the movies but I have played through the force unleashed and I can safely say that It's probably Starkiller. I mean he basically threw a star destroyer to the ground with the force.
