I would have to say the cars in transformers. We all know that Bumblebee is a vw beetle, Jazz is a porsche, Ironhide is a nissan van, Sideswipe is a lambo etc. Why Michael Bay WHY??? (Rhetorical)

Both Transformers movies, both are long over the top commercials with your favourite brands fighting it out to the death

Edit: damn beaten to the punch

The Xbox 360 in Michael Bays' Tranformers...
Come to think of it, Bay also had blatant product placement for the Xbox in the Island. Strange coincidence. Thought I should bring it up.

god that was a dumb movie
While we're talking about The Island, lets not forget that it also included blantant MSN advertising.

OK, so it's not a movie, but I never get tired of...

PEPSIMAN!

OT - I don't have a specific example, but any time any actor drinks from a can, but distorts their hand so you can clearly see the label. It makes me laugh and cry in about equal measure.
there you go.

"I, Robot" was the absolute worst, and the product placement almost ruined the new Iron Man movie for me. The other films mentioned in this thread I haven't seen, but I'm sure they suck. If there's one thing that's a dealbreaker for me in film, it's product placement. Sellouts!

For the Coca-Cola in sci-fi: only prominent examples I can think of are Blade Runner and Superman 2 (if you want to call that sci-fi)

As far as Transformers goes: Everyone knows Jazz and Bumblebee are a Porsche and VW in G1(Transformers movie is not G1, in case you hadn't noticed). Volkswagen Auto Group, which owns VW and Porsche, as well as Audi, would not let them use their cars for the movie. Odd, considering Sideways is an Audi R8 (luxury/sports division of VW). GM offered up their vehicles basically for free, specifically because it would be product placement seen by millions . When you're talking about a movie that was probably way over budget just from the Baysplosions, getting a freebie on the vehicle modes is probably the way to go.

In my time I've seen a few examples of blatant product placement.

*Journey to the centre of the earth (2008)-This movie is stuffed with more product placement than a hardcore D&D geeks face is stuffed with acne (No offense intended). In one scene that annoying little bastard says "As long as you have MOUNTAIN DEW in the fridge and you TIVO FAMILY GUY we'll be fine" and in one scene they are flying on a SCANDINAVIAN AIRWAYS flight, across from the professor and his nephew a man is drinking COCA COLA then the nephew proceeds to draw out his PSP where he blatantly GOOGLES a search term. Even when they're exploring the deep caverns of the earth you can clearly see every bare label on their hiking equipment. And was it just me who sat there the whole time wondering why their tour guide wasn't a man like in the book, and why the nephew was 13 and not into his twenties.

*Waterworld (1995)-To be fair there was next to no product placement in this film...I said NEXT to no. Despite the fact that thousands of years after the polar icecaps have melted, and even though a weak metal such as the kind found in soda cans would not be able to bear the pressure of the sea when Kevin Costner goes down to the depths of the ocean with that woman you can clearly see him pick a can of PEPSI from the dirt. Also the clearly marked box of CRAYOLAS in his boat was fairly stupid.

I'm surprised noone mentioned the utterly STUPID mobile phone product placement in the Star Trek reboot. That had me nearly jumping out of my seat.

Apart from the Swedish "Hamilton" movies had couple of cringe-worthy ones as well, such as using a branded credit card to sloooooowly work his way into a locked window latch, or a norwegian gas station in the middle of Murmansk.

I am Legend, so many ford's.
I also like the scene in his house, "I like Shrek, be as cool as me and buy it on DVD"
