In my eyes, Earthbound can no longer be considered underrated since everyone and their dog knows about it by now, and it's one of many games like Chrono Trigger, Final Fantasy VII, and The World Ends With You that JRPG fans really need to stop banging on about. (I'm not claiming Earthbound is bad, but I do sure wish people would stop nagging me to play it)leet_x1337 said:I'd say Earthbound, but it's mostly that nobody ever bought it - the people who've played it (for the most part) love it and are unafraid to say so. Case in point: me.
Great call, had hours of fun playing that with my mates, all on a single controller. Loved the humour and cultural references too.Hardcore_gamer said:Hogs of War for the PS1.
It was basically Worms but in 3D and with pigs. It was even more funny then Worms at the time in my opinion, and easily just as much if not even more fun to play.
Heh, my brother got me that for my Birthday. The storyline is ****ing mental as all shit.Trippin tacos said:Earth defense force 2017, the video game equivalent of the "so bad it's good" B movie.
The only reason it's underrated is because it's impossible to find, and therefore not many people have heard of it.
i wish i had mine still. such a great game.. blocky graphics, but hey damn fun.The Geek Lord said:Fuck, I remember that game. Don't have my copy of it anymore.clutch-monkey said:Body Harvest
Come to think of it, my entire childhood is filled with obscure games--under all the Kirby and Mario 'n shit. The aforementioned Body Harvest, Mischief Makers, Rocket: Robot on Wheels (supposedly the first game to ever use a physics engine, and oh yeah, it's made by the same people who made Infamous or whatever), Tonic Trouble... Stuff like that.
I think, though, that I'm gonna say all of the above AND Zettai Hero Project. Really, even if you just hate anime comedy, you still have to admit that Nippon Ichi Software knows how to take a basic kind of game engine and turn it into something that is, at the absolute minimum, interesting.
Argh! You beat me to it. Such a wonderful game. I remember when I was at GameCrazy and couldn't make up my mind on a choice between two games. Then the employee brings up Contact (which of course I never heard of), so I say sure why not? Two days later I was so into it I didn't leave my room for hours at a time.NellNell said:Contact on the DS. I think I've said this before though.
Besides if not for that game I would have no avatar.
In a Tri-Ace game? I love 'em, but you'll forgive my skepticism.UmJammerSully said:Valkyria Chronicles. Received great reviews yet nobody bought it! It's really a unique take on strategy RPG's and there's nothing else like it. Story 'aint half bad either!
You're confusing Valkyria Chronicles with Valkyrie Profile. Two entirely different franchises. Easy mistake to make though.Austin Howe said:In a Tri-Ace game? I always Italicize them like english class taught me to do for movies and novels.UmJammerSully said:You're confusing Valkyria Chronicles with Valkyrie Profile. Two entirely different franchises. Valkyria Chronicles is made by Sega. You know, the good part of Sega. The same people that made Skies of Arcadia, another game that made it into this thread a little further up.
EDIT: I have no idea why I bold game titles... Just roll with it.![]()
