My question is why some black people get offended when white people use it, but then use it when talking to each other?

(Not trying to be racist. I don't think this sentence seems at all racist, but I always feel guilty when I say "black people." I would have said "african americans" but I realize that a lot of people on this site are in Europe, and didn't know how to phrase it...)
Personally I refuse to use any term that is anything-american, because it insinuates that your a different type of american a puts up a sort of divide.

I don't get this myself, why exactly is "Black people" somehow considered offensive now? I mean, I have no objections to being called a white person. Mainly because that's what I am.

OP: It seems to come in waves as to what's offensive and what's not. The word ****** seems to be one of them now. One thing though, I don't believe in reducing it to "the N Word". Not because I'm at all racist, and I know it can be deeply hurtful, but I think that the avoidance of saying the word at all just makes some want to say it just because they aren't allowed. I think using it in the way I did is okay, it's just saying the word and not attaching any hate to it. Perhaps if it isn't avoided so much, people will stop saying it just to be offensive.
I'm overly sensitive about racism. I hate racism and discrimination more than most things in the world.

It's silly to think that it's because people don't care. Racial intolerance is still a part of our culture. Black people in America were forcibly segregated and treated like dirt for a long time, and even after equal rights lingering tensions exist because even the youngest among us continue to slander with abandon.

I'm the product of a mixed race couple. I've been racially discriminated against by both sides, but it was mostly never an issue until I became an adult, and suddenly started losing jobs because my supervisors would find out I'm a "filthy half-bred n****r".

I've never lost a job or missed out on a scholastic/employment opportunity for being white.

As long as there is racism there will be great offense to those who were oppressed. It seems in my country that the Mexican is the new black, which is a big shame considering how often I keep hearing imbecile racism deniers squawk on about how there's no racism anymore, just people blowing it out of proportion. Easy for them to say, they've never been fired and called a n****r by their employers.

Just take a gander around the internet, for example, and you will see every stereotype carried out one after another. You fools accepting what they're fed about the dangers of black people, idiots throwing out generalizations about prisons and poverty.

I'll quit before I go circular and start ranting. Topics like this never end well anyway.

Niggah, please. If a dude's chill, then he won't care if you use the word "niggah." "******" is a different issue, "niggah" just means "man."

Well the word has been used to mean such a demeaning thing for so long that people get freaked out even when it's not used pejoratively. No other word in the past few hundred years has held such infamy. Which is silly, if you think about it.
