Because if this isn't official, and wasn't used despite being a wank fantasy...
It was drawn for the original script, which was only changed by DC's "last minute meddling", so whether or not it was used it's still official.

The fact that DC pulled it is the only part of this story that surprises me, given the ludicrous amounts of T&A that the previous issues were filled with. I don't object to sexualisation in comics in itself, only to how badly implemented it was, with DC constantly pandering to the lowest common denominator and the worst stereotypes of comic book readers, of which this is (or if you insist, would have been) another prime example.

wank fantasy fantasy wank fantasy? wank fantasy.
I'm glad you appreciate the phrase. I'd say it trips off the tongue, but that conjures up some unfortunate images.

WELLLLLL

To be totally honest, I don't read comics often (I think the only two comics I legit read from beginning to end were Red Son and Watchmen) or even at all, so this to me seemed like a no-brainer "of course they pulled it, what is that" type of situation. I guess if they have prior history of poor taste, then mwlehrh? Fuck 'em, but at least they did this more or less right. Do I think they're better on some global scale because of it? Probably not, but might as well not give 'em shit for something that was in poor taste and didn't happen.

EDIT:
Hank pant a seat. Tank rank cuisine? Spank fan artiste.

Wank fantasee.

I'M TRYING ALRIGHT.

DC really has made an awful mess of New 52, especially where their female characters are involved. I'm glad they cut this, but I'm still not going to support this run. DC early needs to get its act together, in my opinion.

Funny thing is, if they had tried this back with these same characters when they were doing...say, the "Hush" series, it would probably have been as impactful as they hoped it would have been this time around.

Of course, that would have been due to the characters never allowing themselves to do such things, so an action like this would have had actual weight, instead of being yet more titillation.

However, even then, I can't imagine Selina's dignity surviving such an event, regardless of who was writing it. Only situation I can recall where a "statement" like this worked was in Young Guns 2, and that's debatable as well.

I really should've posted this yesterday, as it'll probably be quite buried now, buuuut...

Catwoman wears underwear underneath her tight-fitting latex catsuit? Who knew?

I'm certain that would chafe in any form of strenuous activity.

It's probably made of the same material The Flash makes his suit out of. Or it doesn't matter because suspension of disbelief in a world with super powers.
It's just a thought. I wouldn't want people to try that at home without at least having some talc to hand and some cream if they develop a rash.

Edit : Oh, and don't tear the outfit. They cost a small fortune to make. *cough*

Huh. Maybe DC is finally desperate enough to try actually writing stories about characters again.

Or maybe this is all just a giant litmus test to see which vocal minority can howl louder.

That look on Selene's face in the last panel sells me on the "not-sexist by way of girls liking Bayonetta" angle, though the body language sends mixed messages a little bit.

This is literally the closest I have ever come to respecting New 52. I don't expect it will last.

Still, points for at least trying to telegraph taking baby steps in the right direction.
