I find this test to be very flawed.
It deems you a narcissist, even if you are actually a leader of organizations that require you to distribute responsibility and rely on others as your job. Of course if you are actually in charge and have responsibility to designate tasks and rely on people to do them, you can also be a very independent individual, at the same time, if you wish to accomplish anything on a large scale, you would have to delegate responsibility. I have been in a leadership position with every job I have ever had, however, that in no way means I am " stuck on myself" by any means. Questions such as " people tend to accept your authority" for example, of course they do when you are the one that is supposed to oversee the project. Nothing would ever get done if someone wasn't in charge.

Not a particularly good test though since it can't differentiate between someone who erroneously believes they are better than others and someone who actually is better, and it would be dead easy to get a low score by deliberately answering the "modest" answers. Quite seriously I don't believe I have the disorder despite scoring high enough since I get along well with most people, certainly not bad enough it's a disorder >.>

I think that's what he's saying. For example, the first choice is between " I have a natural talent for influencing people" and "I am not good at influencing people." Some people may just think that about themselves. Other people really do have that ability. We call many of them lawyers, teachers, salesmen, and politicians.

Narcissism is more about thinking you're hot shit, when really you're not. The personality disorder is just horrible -- it's closely related to sociopathy, if you can believe it.

I agree this test is extremely flawed and should not be used in any way to determine narcissistic personality disorder.
It also does not accurately portray those who are in leadership positions, or people who actually have above average skills and ability.

Which, all joking aside, is a problem of the test. The test only asks questions if you see yourself above others, not if you see others below you. If you're modest about your skills and expect others to be at your level, you may not think highly of yourself but down on others.

I got a 34, which isn't very surprising since I also scored pretty high on the Hare PCL-R. More surprising was how those the individual scores broke down, with exhibitionism coming in rather higher than vanity. That's obviously untrue as I often find myself marveling at my own reflection, I literally can't even glimpse myself in the mirror without cracking a little smile, but I don't like to think that I make an exhibition of myself. Under normal circumstances I actually do my best not to draw attention to myself. It's too much of a commitment in that I feel pressure to be on when I absolutely do not want to have to be "on" when I don't feel like it, and besides, if these things are to be believed at all then it's probably best I fade into the background, otherwise my antisocial behavior would give me away. Showing my true colors wouldn't be the best way to get what I want, would it?

When your test is an either or, and the narcissistic options are obvious your score is rather meaningless. No one is going to be shocked by their results, ideally.

If the results were going to be reviewed for some reason, you would probably alter your choices based upon what you think you SHOULD answer in order to conform to societal norms.

Unless you are a narcissist, then you really don't give a fuck.

On that note I scored a 19. I didn't read down to get the break down, because I found the test to be pointless and in no way resembling an effective diagnostic tool.

Self diagnosis in itself is inherently flawed, but usually the "tests" provide enough of a distraction from what are usually very easily categorized response patterns.

Questions like "Why Pants?" thrown in to confound the subject, as well as questions repeated with different or contradictory wording being most often used.

Honestly though I'm going to throw my ring into the hat with the other people who call this personality test flawed. You've got to be a complete idiot to not get what each question was hinting at. I still tried to answer honestly though. I think a little more moral ambiguity to the questions would have helped the test.

Total 11 but ironically despite being self sufficient and having people not do anything for me I also exploit them and to be honest I know what this means as an introvert it means I intentionally come off as a massive asshole to people i find annoying which is a lot of people.

I insulted my annoying as hell roommate whenever he did something idiotic (Like play Justin Beiber and come into my room and Dance in his boxers, or sleep in the living room a few feet from the stove and ask me not to cook he was sleeping despite he could have just con to his own god damned bed in his own room) I eventually just gave a blank stare while holding a massive knife which terrified him to the point he just moved out.

See as I am under the average and my traits are kind of counter intuitive my narcissism is just nit suffering fools and fining lot of people fools not most people but 3 out of 10. I also enjoy when people who I know to be idiots to insult me, like if you think religion is part of your DNA that the entire light spectrum is visible to humans or it is not light and that Mars is red because we as humanity made it that way, please by all means I hope you say I am an idiot.

As others have said, though, not the greatest test. Two of the questions asked me, respectively, whether I thought I was special and whether I thought I was extraordinary, and despite both of them essentially asking the same thing, that one-word difference caused me to say yes to the first but no to the second.
