Alright, so we've had plenty of "your game ideas" topics before. So rather than everybody shout out there ideas which will most likely never be realized I thought we should all have a giant brainstorming session, if nothing else than simply for it's own sake. Contribute whatever you want, be it environment, aesthetic, gameplay and story ideas. If you're an artist or writer feel free to flash your stuff up here.

Just one thing though, try to pay attention and a little bit of relevance to the previous posters. We want to build one giant thing here, not just divulge into everybody doing the same thing. Feel free to get collaborative juices going guys!

Okay, I'll start (unlessed ninja'd) what could make a 2D side scroller beat'em up and tower defense together be great?

Hear me out on this:

- Interstellar alien war.
- Massive multiplayer battles
- a bunch of unique alien races with unique weapons, vehicles, and attributes
- land AND space battles in the same map at the same time.
- blues metal soundtrack

Go.

That sounds pretty cool, maybe we could combine the 2-d scroller with giant space battles by making an absolutely massive and manipulatable landscape a la Terraria. the tower defense aspect could come in the form of a sentry/engineer style class.

That's kinda interesting. Probably centered around opposing bases although 2D would possibly hamper the scale somewhat. Maybe we can have mobile bases? Possibly could be used for orbital drops into someone elses land base.

Since we're talking about land/air/space then we need transport options as well. Anyone?

Well I was thinking of something like a vehicle with multiple sitting places, or maybe just skip that and have platforms you free stand on with the basic physics of the game world. The problem is with 2-d it limits the movement to four directions so a pilot isn't going to have much to do. Maybe a grid based top down style?
