Square Enix Japan just went live with the site for the new Final Fantasy DS game, "Four Warriors of Light: Final Fantasy Gaiden [http://www.square-enix.co.jp/hikarino4sensi/]." I for one am excited about it, because it really does seem like an old-school FF game, down to having midi and being completely turn-based (which they are marketing as "a simple battle where the player only has to chose a a set battle command"). They really seem to be going for the beginners and kids or the people who started out on and are nostalgic for the old FF games. It reminds me a lot of FF3, which I enjoyed in the DS.
If you click on System, they've got a clip of moving around the world and a clip of the battle system, so even though "MP" seems to be gone, you still get to use magic. It seems like they're trying to integrate the stylus, since it says you can set the tempo of the battles with the stylus.
It's slated for a fall release in Japan, so it'll probably be localized some time in winter or spring, maybe.
