I have never got to playing the original perfect dark so I bought the new port on the xbox live arcade and I can tell you it is fun, and lived the test of time. I really enjoyed how enemies weren't lifeless killing machines 100% of the time. If you outgun one and he has no one to see him cower he will cower and beg for life.

I was amazed.

I also loved the shooting system. I was like WOE there was silent guns ten years ago! (That was a joke) but for real I couldn't believe that they incorporated silent guns and duel wielding. The game also has a auto lock feature that is very active making the game easy in the aiming category which I also fined fun because it doesn't feel very serious. That's refreshing.

I havn't gotten to the multiplayer yet but I am sure it is amazing. I have heard it is.

So if you have a xbox or any way you may be able to get it, it's worth the ten dollers.

It really is

It is indeed, I still have the original, although I will concede the remake is probably much better.

I'd like to see it on Steam myself. It's a really great game, especially when you whack up the difficulty.

Incidentally, here's a graphics comparison video.

MY word the difference is damn near night and day. If I hadn't seen played and loved the original I would have bet my soul the new refined version was an orignal game.

I love it. The original was my childhood, so I'm glad to see that people who've never played it are being exposed to it now. I love how they changed how Joanna looks, so that, while she's still similar to how she looked in the original, you can see how she suddenly became black in Perfect Dark Zero.

Bought it Wednesday morning, and I'm having a blast as well. I never owned the original N64 version, nor have I played this on an original N64 (the closest thing I've done is playing PD on an N64 emulator), but after the couple of hours I've wasted on this remake so far I can now see why people regard Perfect Dark as even better than Goldeneye.

It is a bit annoying that I'm having a hard time finding online multiplayer matches, though.

You do realize that Free Radical didn't simply refuse to make TimeSplitters 4, they couldn't because they went bankrupt, the majority of the employees were laid off or left, and they were absorbed by Crytek, correct?

The time I spend on the original.
Too bad my N64 had to die.

So naturally I'm very happy with this. And it looks so much better as well.

I like it but I've got to say, the multiplayer is fucked, i've not had a single good game online of it yet. Thankyou for this updated version plus all the GoldenEye stuff, but please fix the online!

Well good old Perfect Dark, the memories of my child hood are all coming back now...Oh god dad no not the belt! And continuing on, yeah it's great to know they are bringing such an amazing shooter back. It was definitely a favorite way back when. I cant wait to play the new one again have really high expectations.

No checkpoints. No saving of any sort. Really cheap deaths from turrets as early as the end of the second level. First level was fun, then I met the "turrets o doom". Got past them. On the fourth level.

No explanation of the health system. I have a small red "health" bar and a large green shield bar, does the red regenerate or something?

Nearly useless "Aim" mode is annoying as fuck to use.

Broken Counter-Cooperative mode. The guy controlling the AI is waaaaaaaaaaay overpowered.

Yes. This is "fun".

Having no fond memories of the original...I want a refund.

I'm not against hard games, I'm against artificial difficulty.

I do LOVE not having giant glowing markers on objectives. Makes me think. The game doesn't assume that I'm an idiot, at least.

The green part is your health, the red part is apparently your "emergency health". It's still basically one solid health bar, the red part is nothing more than an obvious indicator that you can only take two or three more bullets before you croak.
