The only positive point the remake had was it didn't have those idiotic life lessons tacked on the end. That's literally it.

So my buddy just sent me this link and now I'm a member I'm pretty sure only for this thread. Moving on though.

I'm not hating the knew design since times have changed, but why in the hell did they put mutton chops on Panthro? I definitely grew up watching Thundercats and I'm a little jaded when it comes to remakes now... He-man kind of failed in my eyes and G.I. Joe didn't go very well either. I do really hope that the story is good though, and if it's not... I might just lose hope in the remakes of my old favorites.

P.S. Really? Mutton chops?

But... but... NO! It's Thundercats, you can't go changing it like that. Do reruns of the old ones instead, geez. Not everything needs to be remade.

I definitely agree with you, but since some people just feel it needs to happen, they better do a good job

It's a classic though. Why not think of something new? People keep coming back to the same thing instead of just thinking of something else. Apart from the fact that it more often than not ruins the original idea, it's boring.

I'll probably just go on pretending there was never a remake.

This is also true. Unfortunately all the good ideas have already been taken. Some people simply feel that everything needs to be tampered with.

My first reaction to hearing of this was, and I quote, "DEATH TO THE INFIDELS!"

Why does Kids show = shallow?

There are a few very good kids shows/movies out there that are not shallow.

Take Avatar the Last Airbender (the TV show, not the movie) It was a kids show, but its miles away from being shallow.

Shallow is just what you get when you are making cheap crap to make money, not when making kids shows. It just happen to be a fact that kids don't care to much if a program is shallow. Which means the networks can get away with amazingly bad crap.

Judging from the art itself, it looks pretty good. Lion-O is younger, which I'm totally fine with, and maybe that just helps out more as he becomes the leader. Cheetara looks a bit too young(Maybe around Lion-O's age? Can't really tell), but would need to hear her voice first. Same thing with Panthro too. He looks different than his past self, so how his characterization and voice play out will be hit or miss for some people.

Oh, and Tygra gets a gun now along with the whip, sweet. I never really disliked the whip, but I guess out of all the ThunderCats, he was never really my favorite. Lion-O was the leader, Panthro the strong tech guy, Cheetara the fast psychic one(right? its been a while), the kids were the kids, Snarf was...Snarf, and Tygra had the whip which made him invisible (and cause fires? Again, its been a while). I guess while he was cool, he was never really as cool as the rest of them(though obviously above Snarf, though that should go without saying. =P).

In the end, I hope it does well. A bit too soon to say "MY CHILDHOOD IS FOREVER RUINED!!!!", but at the very least, it could be worse! Though I'm liking the art alot so far, and I guess it depends how the battles are(story wise they don't have to change up too much but you never know).

Something tells me Snarf will be more like an actual slim cat figure then his overbearing lizard tail girth design... all for the sake of staying away from obesity and promoting "Stay healthy and don't get fat! It ain't cool to be fat!" Which I know isn't a bad thing, but something tells me that they are going to go for extreme Political correctness with it.

I worshipped this show growing up. I don't think they look bad, actually. Maybe a bit "douchey" as some have suggested. I take "douchey" to mean a little too anime or feminine? I can see that. The old T.Cats were a little bit ugly by comparison. Have any of you seriously watched the old show though? I hadn't seen them since I was 8 or 9 until a few years ago. Damn. Those shows were TERRIBLE in terms of acting and writing most of the time. Hopefully a remake will give some sense of clarity to the show, or at the very least, introduce a new generation to a facet of my childhood. Then again, it could be what it was for me growing up: an overdone toy commercial.

Why does one of them have a nun-chuck? was that in the original cartoon. They do appear to be done in more of an anime style than the original. Although that is not neccessarily a bad thing I think if you want it to be a delicate recreation of the old series you are going to be disappointed. They will probably change it quite a lot, the character designs are only the beginning, although I am not a fan of Lion-O's pink hair.

At least its not a live action version.

Fuck... I've been watching all the old ones lately. Even if I had no idea what Thundercats was, I would still hate these new ones

That's "RAEG" for "Thundercats did not need a remake, especially a remake where it looks waaaaay to much like anime."

It looks like anime because it is anime. xD

It's being made in Japan, that's why it's anime styled.

It's suppose to be alot darker then the 80's version.

He wasn´t saying that Kids Show = Shallow, he was saying that the He-Man remake was shallow, but nevertheless okay for kids. That is a completely legitimate statement and does in no way undermine the fact that "Kids shows" can´t have engaging storys and compelling characters.

Okay, on the Thundercats thing...A: Why does Japan come up with that? and B: I never saw the original, kind of passed by me unnoticed...if this comes out and causes massive RAEG! tho, I might look into it to see what all the fuss is about.

tbh they don't really look all that different to me. Also i don't remember liono having that metal arm. Come to think of it, i don't remember any of the characters looking like they do in the second picture. eh whatever i didn't watch much thundercats as a kid anyways. The remake will probably be extremely nonviolent and kid friendly, which don't get me wrong, isn't bad for a cartoon, but there was a lot of fighting in the old thundercats iirc that I don't think they would be able to get away with now.

Please don't reive Snarf, please don't revive Snarf!
Also just make Lion-O's hair real red rather then that weird colour.
