No, this isn't about the 'F5' of the Final Fantasy MMO. This is just an idea/hope I had for the next FF game.

What if, you played a character called Cid, who spends the first arc of the game getting pieces to make an airship with his friends who are good at Magic or Melee or Ranged combat...?

This idea actually makes me feel exhilarated over the next sequel once the 'Lightning' character and "plot" goes away.

Would you guys be interested in that?

I thought Square said FF14 was the last one? I swear they said that at some point

Anyway, Final fantasy usually starts with the spirit of adventure being a key component so that could work. However Cid has always been a supporting role, not the main protagonist and on top of that hes always been portrayed as someone with lots of technological and engineering skills and often with a high intellect. A character like that just doesnt seem to fit for a protagonist in a Final fantasy game but if kept as a supporting characters like a friend, brother, father, etc it could work out well

I agree that Cid isn't a player character, but you can still have a gearhead for the role. Have him fight with a giant wrench (no really, one of the ones I've used a couple times could cave in a dragons skull if you could swing it, and FF characters never seem to have trouble with oversized weapons).
