Nintendo was the one that was big on innovation the DS and the touch screen the Wii and the motion sensor. But for the first time there was and innovation that was bad. Well, that's not true the Eyetoy was a bad innovation.

But the difference is the Wii was really popular. A lot of parents got the Wii because at least they'd be exercising when there gaming and Gamers bought it because it something new. After a couple of months the flaws of the Wii and Motion Controls became obvious and the console was abandon. Now the Sony and Microsoft have to complete with the Wii and add the innovation themselves but the problem is how can they remove an innovation and still seem like they are going forward.

So thats the issue gaming have now but if this motion sensor craz passes. Then what is next. I have a guess. There are these headphones at a this Science Center. They say they used ears that are shaped like human ears to record it or something. Anyway but when you sit down and press the button a moment later it stars and says "hey," but everyone looks behind them because they really thought somebody just said that behind them. If this is put into gaming then you be able to use your second sense to detect noise accurately.

What is your prediction?

I think touch screen/motion control for things like a menu or the likes. But i would like to still use a controller :p Maybe even that glove thing could be cool.
But I don't think those ear things will take off much. Surround sound has been out with a while.

Just because you do not like motion sensing does not make it a "bad" innovation. Sure, por implementation of it IS a bad thing, but when done right can do wonders for a game.

Besides, innovation needs to start somewhere. If you're someone who wants technology to reach the levels of virtual reality/Holodeck, this kind of innovation is necessary. No motion sensing, no Holodeck. EVER.

The next innovation will probably be better voice recognition (phoneme analysis), or the development of AI that can actually respond to your input, rather than choose from a pre-determined bank of choices.

Well tbh I would like to use the peregrine. Even just to try it.

However all motion control is a gimmick to me. The one and only innovation that im looking forward to is the The Sixth String. The guitarhero-esque rythm game where the controller is a real electric guitar and you learn chords and notes as you play the game.

Hopefully a new type of internet connection. As far as I can tell, this is the limiting factor in almost all modern technology. It's slower than every other aspect of electronic data transfer or manipulation.

Motion sensing was an awesome innovation that as with all new innovations, was flawed in it's first design. As accuracy on that thing improves and people think up clever new ways to use it I think people will start to love it.

Well, I think motion control still has a way to be refined but like the early masses of cubes and polygons that passed for humans because they had a textured face on them, it's the first step on a way towards totally refined motion control in gaming.

Will it make us totally abandon the conventional "two-hands, one-to-three joysticks and d-pads, buttons for doing stuff, stuff on the shoulders to make other fun stuff happen" controller? Who knows. The Wii's most conventional control scheme is still pretty much that two-handed controller thing, even if it removes the center letting the user keep his hands far apart.

Still, honestly I hadn't really even thought of motion control for this generation, I just thought things would get prettier and more elaborate, not than any are necessarily bad.

I mean, where do we go? 3-D doesn't seem so much an innovation if all it does is make things look different. Maybe something fancy like Dead Space's in-world HUD? Still, it's all aesthetics.

Maybe virtual reality but that might be a high-end luxury thing that would involve special centers. The DisneyQuest places that were open for a few months back in like the '90s had things like these where you put on special goggles and got special peripherals to have laser sword fights and the likes.

I think the next innovation in gaming better be something about the actual GAMEPLAY. If it's another "high tech" jobber, I'm going to ragequit.
