The next xbox?

You know what I want?

I want an PC that is labeled Xbox that plays like any next generation consoles and games. I want all the benefits of playing on a PC (Like mods and PC exclusives), but on a console so that it is affordable, takes almost no intelligence to operate and no need to buy graphics cards or check system specs.

That would be a dream come true. Oh, and no RRoD would be a nice bonus too.

The neXtbox won't come out for several years. This generation still has a long way to go before all of its potential has been exploited, especially in the case of the PS3. I imagine MS will likely want to release their console around the same time as Sony's next one.

And if they do, they better not release it too early. We all know how well it went last time they did that.

I think soon 360 will lag behind PS3 capabilities so Microsoft will have to upgrade or loads of console specific games players will be frustrated or jumping ship.

Here's a more debatable question: When will NINTENDO make a new console? Selling great, but rapidly dropping, with a serious sofware drought, and by far the most behind in all technology except the motion sensor (Mainly graphics and internet). But Nintendos philosopy seems to be don't worry about the system, focus on the games...Very hard one to pin down, I think.

Well, that makes sense because the Wii was essentially old tech even when it was released.
Going by PC standards, the Wii is about 1 year's worth of tech more advanced than it's predecessor, the gamecube. XD.

On the plus side, it only uses 18 watts while running, so it's rather low spec components have some advantages...

I'm curious if they plan on replacing it any time soon or not though.

The 360 will have a much longer tail than the original Xbox. It could well be the PS2 of the next generation; vastly inferior in technology, but still popular and easy to develop for with a large install base. I can see Madden games and movie license games coming to the 360 in 2015.

As for a new Xbox, probably not for a couple of years or so. America, Europe and Japan aren't ready to embrace a new console right now, not in this economic climate.

It'll be like 2013 by the time Xbox "3" comes out if its even planned yet.

Without a doubt a company like Microsoft would be planning its next gen console as they released the current gen one. When the stakes are as high as these you don't leave anything to chance.

Xbox 720? Meh, it's not for a while yet at least...Especially with the Economy the way it is...
