The Nintendo Gamecube had such a great library of games.

As much as I like the Wii u, how to change interested me like it did on a switch. hell, I ended up trading my Wii u for a switch, because I knew most of the games I bought on that system would appear on a future system and I was right. I had some minor regrets, but those were grades were long gone by 2018.
Switch is the first NES system I haven't had. My first was the NES in 1986. I don't think my old hands can make use of the joy con buttons. BUT! I my just use it as a normal console and get a Nintendo Controller.
I don't really collect for Wii U as I only have one, and when the screen tablet dies, the thing is a door stop. Maybe I'll trade it for what I can get for it when Switch prices get back to normal.
Maybe worth a thread...

Argh. Thought you were wrong but Wikipedia reports Gamecube 22 million units sold to the Wii U's 14. Too bad. Wii U has an incredible library with terrific looking games.
For what it's worth, the Switch is only about 4 mil units away from being Nintendo's second best selling home console (tho still a fair bit behind all the handhelds) and the list of notable Wii U exclusives that hasn't gotten a port yet has grown short. Pikmin 3 is rumored to come over, it would really surprise me if Mario 3D World doesn't get a port. Xenoblade X is less likely, but I'm not ruling it out. Color Splash seems most likely to be left behind.

EDIT: just noticed you don't have a Switch. I could recommend it tho. It's a fun system. Also, if the Joy Con's size might be an issue, the Switch Pro controller is pretty ace and I've yet to play a game it doesn't work well in.

Probably Star Fox Zero too, which makes me sad :c Now that Bayonetta 2 and Wonderful 101 Switched (hah) over, it's basically the one game I like on the system that probably won't get a port due to its inherent control and gameplay style

If they give SFZ a traditional control scheme on Switch, I would play it. If not, then it's Panzer Dragoon (the better flying rail shooter series anyway. Also, Sin and Punishment 2) or that one level in Bayonetta 2 that is a better Star Fox game than Zero.

I am sad that to this day these two GC Star Wars games have not been re-released in HD:

I miss the Gamecube/PS2/Xbox Original generation in general.

I miss X Play and TechTV, I miss GamePro and Game Informer Maginzine. I miss having Gamestops.

And I lament not having a PC and Internet to get into PC gaming between 2001 and 2006. Missed out on the golden years of WOW, Battlefield, City of Heroes, etc.

I do miss those moments, but I am not going to get stuck in the past. As much as I love that era, it had problems.

I do miss X-Play (which was Extended Play before that, and GameSpot TV before that too.) and Tech TV, but there's no point in a channel like that since the early 2010s. Most of the Tech TV cast has moved on to better careers. Not to mention some of the cast is not like I expected to be, but I am long over that. For reference, I am referring to Adam Sessler. I never gave a rat's ass about Morgan Webb, and always preferred Kate Batello. I have not heard or seen of her since 2003. Game Informer I never had much love to begin with, and GamePro I stopped caring about since 2007/08.

I have a lot of nostalgia for the Gamecube era. It was actually my first actual console I owned mostly because I was poor growing up and I couldn't really afford a SNES or a N64. But I really love that era for Nintendo because it was really experimental and was trying new and unique ideas. Mario with a waterpack? Neat! Having 2 racers on a kart? Oh that's pretty interesting.

I do want to give a special shout out to Pokemon Colosseum and its sequel Pokemon XD: Gale of Darkness. Colosseum was really experimental but they really tired doing something different with the franchise. Its notably darker where it opens up with the main character blowing up a gang hideout and stealing their secret weapon. It also does put a spotlight on some lesser used/known Pokemon too due to the scarce availability the game gives you so you have to plan our your team as best as possible. I do have my gripes with it yes but its something Nintendo and Game Freak would most likely never return to. Pokemon XD does fix a few issues with Colosseum, namely the variety of Pokemon and Shadow Pokemon have diverse movesets which I like but it lacks the same tone the original had.

There's a lot of games I could talk about during this era to be honest. I really love the Gamecube and this is one of the few times I really indulge in nostalgia.

My gamecube was my least used console in that gen. I just had the pokemon games, Eternal Darkness, this one zelda collection which was my first time playing MM and I think that's it. I basically just got it for the pokemon games.
