The "No Life" Insult

Eh, because they think that games are a waste of time.
If ANYONE says that, simply reply "If one enjoys wasting time, is that time really wasted?"

The "No Life" insult doesn't bother me in the least. Implying I have no life implies that I am either A) in a vegetative state/comatose or B) undead. Neither of which is true.

Being in a vegetative state still leaves you with a life.

Normally people who aren't too happy with their lives call people who are often looked down on by society (such as us gamers) no lives so that they get the feeling that they still have a better life than somebody. There's so many people that sit on facebook/watch TV for night after night, yet tell gamers to do more productive things with their life. I'd rather have a fun time on games with friends than sit around having pointless conversations on facebook or watch repeats on TV.

I was talking to my brother and he said "I need to get a life for playing so many videogames" to which I replied: "Why have one life, when I could have an unlimited number of lives! (The aspect that even if you keep failing the game you can keep trying)". Then he bambles on about how it is bad for me to which I reply: "Alot of things are bad for you, like smoking or eating fast food but I never see you complain about those". It shut him up after that. My opinion on this is that everybody has a life (otherwise they would be dead or never born in the first place) and it is just what they decide to do with it. So if I'm happy with gaming thats what I shall do, I never go around dissing what other people do for fun or as hobby just because I dont like it. The same applies to videogames. So what are you views on this whole "No Life" situation?.

That's got to be one of the best replies I have heard. Also, I think the concept behind "no life" probably concerns living an active social life. Most gamers aren't very socially active when they are playing therefore the more you play, the less you engage yourself in social interactions with others. No, MMOs do not count, not beyond a superficial level anyways.

Hanging out with friends, meeting new people everyday, making those people laugh, furthering my academic career and keeping my family happy.

That's what I do on a daily basis. In between gaming.

I think that constitutes enough of a life.

It would be quite entertaining to come back as a zombie, so that way people I talk to really could use the "No life" line.

I don't get the insult often, but now-a-days I think I'd tell them my life is as fulfilling as I want it to be.

I watch anime, read manga, play games and surf the internet for hours on end, but I do have a life, I enjoy having a drink with my friends or just hanging out with the people I know.

When ever someone tells me to get a life, it kind of feels like they're saying. "You need to start living the way I'm living, because my way is the right way."

In my experience, thos who throw around that insult tend to be the types of people whose social life consists solely of binge-drinking in the same places on the same days every week. Typically, drinking to hide the fact that they hate their jobs and have nothing of interest to talk about with their friends.

It's good for people to actually get out and about and socialise, but I would still argue that a person who spends Saturday evening on XBox Live with his mates has as much (if not more) of 'a life' than someone who spends it consuming copious amounts of alcohol in a bar.

Also a person on youtube (presumbely twitard after I tried to troll a Twilight vid) once said I should get a life (but that was a Twitard so anything they say doesn't count) I tried checking her channel but it was closed down.
