Its been bugging me lately. Something about all current generation electrical technology, from game consoles to radios. Something innocuous, inconspicuous, but there. The little coloured light that tells you your machine is on standby.

I dont like you, little coloured light. You are a vampire, reminding me that the machine your a part of is still happily sucking away at my electricity despite me not using you. Sometimes your not even a button at all, just a little light that only responds to a controller, but still there, reminding me. Why do I have to unplug you to turn you off? Why cant you be like your last generation who proudly sported their off switches to make sure you were asleep rather than just having your eyes closed? In this age of eco friendliness, why do you insist on being full of quirks that demand your constant energy guzzling activeness to work?

I know its not an equal relationship im asking for. But I just want something I can use, then leave knowing its not using me while im gone. The little light is a symbol of a commitment im just not ready to give.

I want an offswitch.

Bring them back.

Eco friendliness is over-rated. What we need are nuclear power plants, and lots of them.
Actually that would be better for the environment as we would stop burning coal.

Well the only indicator, light wise that my computer has is a LCD screen at the front that turns off when the computer is off. I suspect that this LCD does watch me and record various bits of information about me as it knows the dates, speed fans and temperatures of my computer. Clever little bastard it is. If only... if only there was some way to.. reason with it.

I first read this as nuclear powered plants, frankly I enjoy my idea better

I have so many lights in my room, from my PC, Xbox PSU, TV, moniter, mouse (for some reason) And this is when they're all on standby. It makes it hard to go to sleep... :p
So I turn it off at the powerpoint.
Obviously.

Ahh yes, the Russians have been lovers of polonium 257 green tea plant for quite some time. But that said, my plutonium enriched roses are coming up a treat.

My laptop has not this trouble.

My desktop has a switch on the PSU and the wall, what's the problem?

Think someone's just being lazy :p
