So, this is kind of directed to old the older guys and gals out there, like me.
I recently bought a PS3 and a few games for it, including Mortal Kombat Vs DC Universe. I have played through the game on both factions and thought I was doing fairly well, so I decided to try playing against some folks online. Now I used to play Fighting games and win more often than not against other players. Something has happened to my skills over the years. I have yet to win one single match and the other players seem to destroy me before I can say boo.
Have I lost a step or are gamers really that much better than they used to be.
So, old guys, have you found that you aren't as good at certain games now that you're older, or is it just me?

Online play has upped the level of competition so much it is scary. For example: I don't even own Halo, but I play live with my friends sometimes, and when I played against somebody who had never been online, but nevertheless owned the game, I destroyed him. It was a strange experience. The final score, before we quit, was 85 to 20. I was incredibly surprised especially when it is considered that I don't even like Halo that much.

Fighting games tend to be like that. No matter how good you are, there will always be lots of people that can totally wreck you.

Fighting games pretty much become memory tests cause of all the combos and situations you find yourself in. It takes time. Some people just use cheesy tactics as I found out in Street Fighter the other day. Sometimes I cain it other times I get schooled.

Ah "Welcome to old age my friend" or at least thats what I would be saying if I was actually..well...older.

I do know plenty of older gamers (mainly from my WoW days) and they say pretty much the exact same things you do. It's a sad fact that when you get older your reaction time diminishes and you end up not being able to keep up with us young whippersnappers in certain things. Don't fret though at least you get free cool points for being an older gamer. And hey you can officially use the "Well Back in my day!" line in gaming conversations. =)

Half Life 2: DM has taught me that if you're a newb, even if you're a shooter vet, the regulars will always pwn your face until you either get better or get luckier.
