Ewwww

Well then I guess if i'm gonna get the game I'm getting a hard copy. I don't need another stupid Steam like program.

Wasn't there a big outcry over a guy losing access to his EA games because he made a remark about Bioware on their forums?
And now they want people to put all their games under their control?
Are they insane?

EA just doubled down on their bet for SW:TOR, which until I get proof there going to be satisfying endgame instead of endless leveling, I'm chalking up to be a burnout release.

LoL, I mean, it's a stupid idea. There is no logic behind it. It's just plain bad business. Look at it this way, the game is probably gonna suck. It's being made by a company with a rich history, but has never made an MMO before. Now it'll only be sold on one platform, and you can bet the hard copy will make you install it.

Also, to limit the amount of places the game can be purchased is stupid.

On the other hand, Steam did this at first with their titles. But you see them move away from that business model by putting them on consoles like they did with Portal 2.

I was already waffeling on the purchase this, and as I'd prefer to eat a box of rusty nails then give EA my money, this is the final nail in the coffin for me personally. Not getting the new SW mmo.

This would be inconvenience if the game was the least bit appealing to me. But screw you EA, I'd like to see you try and make me download your Steam rip-off.

I don't care, it's just another download service. What exactly is the issue here? You buy the game, you get the game. If you want to use the Steam overlay with it so badly, then add it to the Steam games list. If you don't want to purchase from the store for some reason get a hard copy.
It's understandable that they try to push Origin across. Valve did it as well in the beginning, didn't they?

Like I've said repeatedly, there is no competition on the distributor level unless they're carrying the same games. This is just another monopoly we have to subscribe to if we want their games.

Unless you buy the box version and register it with another service, which I'm now planning to do :D
