So I've been playing TOR since it's come out in late December and I must say that I am very impressed with the game. I'm normally only a moderate fan of MMOs, but this adds Bioware's unique use of conversation and story-building to mix up the game. I, for one, enjoy the game will will be continuing to play it much longer than other MMOs in which I started.

I'm wondering, for those of you who have the game:
-What was your first character?
-Which character have you developed the most?
-Do you tend to go Light or Dark?
-Which companions do you like to use (most of the time)?
-Other cool things of note that you like about the game or your character

My first character is an Imperial Agent Sniper and it's the only one I've played so it's the most developed.

I use my companion Kaliyo and she is a nice match for how I play my character, kind of badass and carefree. I tend to choose dark side options as I find it more fun and I sass people who try to tell me what to do. My character is kind of chaotic evil.

I'm really enjoying this game to be honest and it doesn't match what I've heard of it on the grape vine at all. The fact that you get a crew, like Mass Effect, was a big surprise and you even get a romance option. It's really responsive to how you want to play you character there is usually a 'I'm being loyal to the Empire' dialog option alongside 'I'm just a crazy ***** who wants to arbitrarily shoot you in the leg'

I'm playing with my best mate who is playing as a sith and it's funny how NPC's will often act in a completely different way to him than they do to my agent (who admittedly looks like she fell asleep on a Kerrang concert bus and woke up in the Degobah system..) They grovel and squirm for him then treat me with utter contempt. xD To both take part in a conversation you roll to see how to respond and even if the winning person chooses a light side choice you still get your dark side points if you chose that.

The combat is fluid and my friend says using a lightsabre is great fun. (I use a laser rifle myself) I love the 'roll into cover' action I get as a sniper. Even as a ranged character my attacks are really varied I have grenades, explosive probes, flashbangs. There isn't even an auto attack you press the button to fire off a laser barrage for no energy and it's satisfying and not annoying. It definitely doesn't feel as brainless as playing dps in WOW.

It's just a good game in my opinion and you can pretty much play it as a single player for most of the time. I would recommend it to anyone who likes Mass Effect or Dragon Age.

Im having trouble with a boss. Im an Imperial Agent Sniper so distance is important. I go to snipe and it says "Cannot see target". So I get up close to hit them a few times Kaliyo died in 3 seconds flat and just as Im setting up to snipe I get killed. I have tried like 5-6 times same thing each time.

Cannot see target means that you are out of line of sight. Also I attacked a boss early on (big fat dude) in the starting area and couldn't kill him so I went back later after I had done some more quests. There was more to do in the area than I had realised at first.

I should be able to see the target. The ground is flat. We are both the same level but it's an elite. The problem is I have done the quests upto that point. I can I just need to rerun some missions.

It's a bug. Which fight are you on? If it's the boss at the end of chapter 1, that fight is notorious for having that bug (though I've run into it elsewhere on numerous occasions). As far as I've been able to tell, there's nothing to be done about it.

To answer the topic, I'm also an Imperial Agent (female, Light Side, Operative). The story is my second favorite of any BioWare story, and is what I've always wanted out of Star Wars: a story that isn't about the Jedi and Sith, but that still concerns them obviously (the Imperial Agents are basically there to clean up after the Sith, whom they pretty much view as petulant manchildren), and has plenty of nice grey areas.

I love all my companions except Kaliyo (she's an unrepentant ***** and she only gets worse), and especially Vector. He's one of my favorite characters in a BioWare game, though sadly the companion characters are nowhere near as fleshed out as they are in BioWare's single-player games. I'm looking forward to seeing more of them in expansions, though.

Oh god I got that same glitch. It's the final boss at the end of Chapter 1 right? (don't want to spoil who it is.) Unfortunately the only way I was able to beat him was to get a random Sith Warrior guy to come and help me out.

Edit: got ninja'd

Loving it so far, the style and tone of the game is different enough from WoW to keep me happy while the game play is similar enough so that I can utilize my collective years from studying Azeroth.

I started with a Sith inquisitor Sorcerer, but shelved him for a Imperial agent Operative. Both had a healing spec. I play with 3 other friends, so we have had a full team.
Until I started to notice that it took longer and longer to kill things.
So I switched from a long distance tech-healer to a rogue-like sneaker.
All in the same class.
And now, at level 30, I'm doing some nice damage and occasionally off-heal when we do heroics (no, not instances, Heroics are basicly, elite group quest) together.

I use Kaliyo the most, because my only other option is the healing droid, I have yet to get my third companion. Which is fine because I really like her and she likes my darkside choices. So win-win.

As for additional things I like; I love the idea of orange gear.
Like WoW, you have green gear, blue gear and purple gear, increasing in epicness,
But you also have orange gear. These items have no stats of their own, but can be outfitted with so called mods. These mods can be replaced, removed and upgraded. These orange items often look fancy, so once you got one, you can wear it forever. As long as you keep the mods up to date with your level, you can keep your awesome looks and not worry about gimping yourself.

Yep final boss for chapter 1 and it's destroyed my experience of SW:TOR. I really can't be bothered with the game anymore. I don't want to do it with a random and I don't want to give away the friend so they can help me with it. Which they don't even have characters at that level because they made like 5 of them where I sunk all my time into one character. I don't want to rerun heroics. Maybe they will fix it with a patch as it seems enough people are getting it.

congratulations to Bioware for destroying the game for me.

I was really pleasantly surprised to see that my Bounty hunter was treated with utter contempt by the first Imperial guy you come across on Dromund Kaas. The same guy who earlier called my Sith 'my lord' and tried to be as polite as possible. That sort of stuff really makes games for me.

Had the same issue but there's a trick to do it by yourself, first grab Vector his melee damage output is a whole lot higher then Kalyio's, trigger the fight and then keep stunning him and moving out of range. He should follow you and when he is you should be able to attack him. If not he is still aggroed to you and not Vector so Vector can just wail on him.

Aside from that, went Male Chiss IA who specced into a Sniper. Playing mostly Grey rather then Light or Dark (Here's hoping they add benefits to doing so like they said), who was the picture Patriot, my country right or wrong, someone who served the Empire first his own needs second, up until Act 2 where the events of the act led him to question his unswerving loyalty. I really enjoy what they've done with the companions, I actually felt bad when I sided with Ensign Temple over Kalyio in their romance.

What level were you? Im 32 and I tried it with Vector. He took all the aggro and died in like 10 seconds. I stunned him with all I had in a well timed manner. Do I need to attack some more to get the aggro?

1. Female Bounty Hunter - Powertech
2. Said Bounty Hunter. I have a bunch of other characters ranging around the low teens.
3. My Bounty Hunter was neutral, but I used Diplomacy to force her light side points up so I could use relics (chose Light Side because of the Sith Corruption bug, which is now fixed). My Republic main is naturally going Light Side.
4. Mako. My girlfriend played a non healing Assassin, so Mako was basically my platonic life partner for 50 levels.
5. Oh, lots of things. The game has plenty of character. You can feel the affection that went into it from the developers. It has me thinking fondly of Star Wars again, which I honestly didn't think was possible after the prequels.

I main a Bounty Hunter (Mercenary), and I'm loving him so far. Mako is a great companion with a personality that really contradicts that of someone that should be tagging along with a bounty hunter. Hell, every time I decide to kill someone that I have a bounty on, I get negative affection form her. What were you expecting when you signed up to tag along with a hired killer?

Aside from that, I'm really digging the character story. I've always loved the concept of a bounty hunter, and now I have the chance to be one. Loving it.

Now I just have to figure out at what level the Bounty Hunters get a decent voice actor. I'm around level 40 and still nothing. Maybe it's part of the Legacy system...

You're NOT a hired killer. You're a BOUNTY HUNTER.

Mako only moans if you kill people when you were meant to bring them in alive, or when no killing was necessary. She's actually quite cavalier about killing people where killing was the job. I've had +40 from her on some pretty cold blooded murders.

When a high ranking Imperial Officer is paying me to kill his daughter, I'm being hired to kill someone.

Being hired to kill someone =/= hired killer?

What I'm saying is this: in a Bounty Hunter's line of work, they are often hired to kill people for pay. Mako often disapproves when I decide to kill someone that has a hit out on them.

Perfect example in the missions on Hutta. The Trandoshan hunter that has your token for the Great Hunt. You use a woman with a bounty on her head to lure him into a trap. After getting your token, you then have the option to collect the bounty on the woman you used as bait. Mako disapproves if you decide you want to collect on the bounty that she informed you of herself. She gets all upset when the Bounty Hunter she's tagging along with decides he wants to collect a bounty. What was she expecting? I remember her dialogue consisted of something along the lines of "Are you seriously considering collecting on this bounty?" Collecting on a bounty? As a bounty hunter?

As much as I love Mako, I find a lot of her decisions and her rationalizations to be very... Illogical.

My first character was a Rattakai Imperial Agent sniper, he is currently lvl 26
I've played by Commando the most, he is currently lvl 36
I tend to go light side even on files I had originally intended to go dark on
I really like Elara Dorne, she is useful in combat and an interesting character.
I currently have 5 characters all lvl >10
