Got my copy in the mail with key yesterday, my girlfriend got the digital download version, she got her key via e-mail on the 17th and we are happy little nerds in a wonderful Star Wars world. We've had no problems at all with this launch, haven't experienced queues, all bugs have been extremely minor graphical issues that could very well be our own hardware.

I feel for the people who are having problems though, hopefully the two day grace period will tide you over until you get this sorted out :( don't give up on a wonderful game because of this, in a month you'll be having a ton of fun if you stick it out.

OK I'm all for cutting people some slack, but seriously shipping copies of a PC game without codes and in some cases even missing discs...nah, that's just abysmal and frankly inexcusable.

I'm sure the release date was one of the reasons as to why the game is being ushered off in such a haphazard way. Unlucky those people who have/will recieve copies without codes :(

How is this a surprise to anyone? This is the biggest MMO launch since WoW and they always look like train-wrecks in the first few weeks. Anyone else want some popcorn? I have an extra lawn-chair in the trunk.
Rift had a really smooth launch and the game was absurdly polished and well made. In fact it is about the best launch I've seen.

In game bugs at launch aren't too surprising although, honestly I played this in beta a few weeks ago and got in this weekend on the head start, and aside from teh Midget Jedi Council members (which only happens in a cut scene) have seen no bugs at all (Not including Beta, that had very few bugs).
In fact I'd go so far as to say, that during Beta i was very impressed at how few bugs there were (Compared to Star Trek online or the City of Hero games that were all buggy in Beta...which is what Beta is for...)
And yes some of the servers have very long cues...fortunately as an alt-a-holic I'm working on having various play locations.

As for the registration code, yeah that is a pretty crappy thing to happen and I hope somebody is held accountable for that snafu.
I ordered digital download so my registration number was in email.

This is not a promising start for The Old republic. People with early access have been reporting that the game still suffering from a number of bugs, and others are reporting that there are some <a href=http://www.1up.com/news/the-old-republic-long-server-queues>insanely long load server queues to suffer through. Hopefully BioWare is able to resolve this latest issue soon.
Wasn't the whole plan to gradually roll out the launch specifically to avoid the queue issue? Best of intentions, I guess...
Them rolling out the launching didn't stop people from flocking to the most populated servers. For the most part long server waits are their own fault.
Which is why I choose a server with a "dumb name". I figured people wouldn't flock to it, but it would eventually get a pretty good population. I was also able to play from Day one, the 13th, and have yet to encounter a que at all. I've heard of others that did, but no more than a few minutes.

As for bugs, they are minor. The biggest bug I found was on a quest, I couldn't click on a console to complete it. Neither could another party member. We both logged out and back in and the problem was fixed. And I had found similar problems in WoW. And that was recent. Yes, WoW, the "most perfect and first MMO ever", would have the same exact bug 10 years into it's release. Other than that, I find I can't always collect some resources, but it's a minor issue and probably related to the console issue. Yeah, that's it. I've been playing for 7 days, have 3 characters, one at 22, and those are the biggest bugs I've seen.

Now, the question is, do I play TOR for a lil while (we're given two days for a grace period) or go pick up my copy of the game? Decisions.

Ugh, when I saw the title heading on Popular Forum Posts I just read it as "Old Republic Ships Without Registration" and imagined some sort of intergalactic space-faring traffic accident between two ships and one jumping into hyperspace before the pilots could exchange insurance information.

Lol EPIC FAIL! Bioware.....you're better than this.
EA is the distributor. Bioware may be better than that and they sure as hell are. EA on the other hand. Not so sure.

The thing is MOST servers do not have a high queue line. Like the first server I joined. At most its at HIGH capacity while the second server I joined so I can actually be part of the SWtOR guild of the people in the group on this site has been full since day 1. I think it has more to do with the fact that people like to go on PvE or servers with a lot of people in them already. That isn't Bioware's fault there.

EA is up to it's old tricks again. Sooner or later, we're going to find that EA charged several people 13+ times in a single month.

-What? Noooooh?

This article is pretty misleading to those who haven't tried the game yet. It makes it seem like its this unplayable mess of bugs and problems. I've created 4 sith characters and the only bugs I've run into are hardly game breaking and are few and far between them. In fact if not for this mess up with the codes I'd dare say this launch is the smoothest MMO launch I've ever been a part of.

As far as the server waits go that happens with every new MMO. Bioware can't just add more servers because then when this crazy boom of players dies down and the people who aren't going to stay with the game leave then Bioware will be left with tons of dead servers. So it's a balance between adding more servers and making sure you dont over do it and end up with dead servers in a month when people who are only trying it out leave.

Alright, I'm going to do this and damn the consequences.

The product code issue is unforgivable. There is no reason for it, none.

That said, the last paragraph is uncalled for. I'm playing, been playing since beta. There are not nearly half as many issues as people are making there out to be. Furthermore, the whole "queues" issue. Seriously? Have you been in a MMO launch? Queues are should be expected. I mean, unless your one of those companies the front loads servers and then your stuck with half-populated servers that you have to close down.

I can get behind the main point of the article, but the last paragraph smacks of nothing more then Nelson pointing and laughing.

Le Sigh

Some even lacked the disk.

Come on what a failure.

I hope they fix the situation bad PR and really seriously get the buyers to play the game they bought. Simple they buy the game make it run.

EA quality and service. I like how the grace period to fix this is about 48hrs and I'm sure anyone who waits or just isn't able to deal with it right away will have to buy another copy, make a new account, etc. etc.

Honestly, what did you expect from an EA game?

Didn't this problem already happen with another game? Can't remember what it was though. Is it too much to hope for companies to learn from mistakes?
