Right, so today, out of the blue, my xbox decided to give me the "Open Tray" Error.

Basically, I was wondering, as I have an Elite Console with a 120 GB HDD which of these options would be best (I haven't got too much money at the moment, so cheapest works too):

-Send off for a repair (it's out of warranty)
-Try find a first-hand Arcade console and just use my HDD...

Ok they're my options I can think of now. Anyone else know?

Out of warranty? Try repairing it yourself. I just googled it [http://www.google.ca/search?sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8&q=xbox+360+open+tray+fix] and there are a lot of fixes apparently, even on YouTube. Check it out.

Or just buy an Arcade console. Otherwise you might get stuck with a refurbished model that whines as it works like mine did.

If you know a thing or two about computers or are extremely good at following directions, get a new disc reader and flash it and install it. BUT REMEMBER TO FLASH IT. They will ban your console otherwise, and thats unrepairable. Not account, fucking console, so yeah. But it can save you a couple hundred bucks.

Sorry. Kinda a noob. Good at following directions.

Basically means to install firmware and trick the xbox into believing its a official Microsoft disc drive.

Heres some more info. http://www.ehow.com/how_7257458_install-xbox-360-dvd-drive.html

Just open it/close it a few times and it'll fix itself.

I have the same issue, and thats how I deal with it.

My Xbox had the open tray error and was out of warranty. I don't know how, but it fixed itself and hasn't had the problem for over 5 months now. Maybe it was just fixed by me moving it and turning it around some and constantly opening and closing the tray either way I am just glad it righted itself.
