I was recently playing Golden Sun, and after defeating the toughest boss encounter in that game, The Dullahan, I felt extremely satisfied, moreso than most other moments i've had in gaming. And that got me thinking, what makes a bossfight great? Is it perfect placement at the end of a difficulty curve? Is it that it requires the player to develope new techniques in order to survive? Or can it be the bosses placement in the story structure and design apearance?
Obviously, the perfect boss fight is a combination of many factors, but what do you guys consider those factors to be? and which is the most significant to create a satisfying encounter?
