Tetris, I will play it whether I am feeling good, bad or indifferent. Each time I pickup that game - I will spend at least half an hour on it, most times more.
The graphics are perfect because they do not distract from the game but serve to focus you on the task.
Sound is hypnotising and never gets old even though is is repetative, still does not get boring.
Gameplay is not varied but is always challenging. Tetris gets you hooked within a few minutes of starting a game, no other game has that addictive power. You always want that next line, to get to the next level and experience the next adrenaline rush. If you reach the top level - you want to see how long you can cope with pace. If you are good - you start to set challenges for yourself by seeing how high you can build your stack and reduce it by getting lines before your are conquered by the pace. No other game can give you that sense of satisfaction.

Tetris - leaves you feeling good whether you are good or bad at it because when you play the game - you are focused one task. The hypnotic music and the steady moving blocks makes you want to put everything into the game therefore when you run our of lives - you have a huge sense of accomplishment regardless of your final score. After a short rest and the feeling returning to your fingers - you will be hitching for more.

I don't like Tetris that much so this is just an opinion. Yes I have played it a lot but it certainly didn't feel that great.

Btw there is NEVER going to be a perfect game that everyone loves. Name something and you can damn well find people who hate it.

While graphics might not be everything, there is usually a limit.

Pretty much my opinion as well. There is no such thing as a perfect game.

EDIT: Also, does the OP want our opinion of what we think the perfect game is, or we supposed to discuss Tetris?

I much prefer minesweeper. It requires you to actually use your brain, and difficulty is highly customizable. Basically, it's more re-playable.

I am of the opinion that there is no perfect game, at least not for more than a certain amount of people. That said, Everquest Online Adventures: Frontiers has my heart forever, for being completely immersive, replayable, and intuitive. For me, the aged graphics aren't so much a flaw... more of a trademark...

There is no perfect game.
But,in my opinion, Tetris is as close as it gets.

Also, the matrix.
Just imagine the epic fun you could have if you were connected to the matrix.
Without the whole dying in game = dying in real life part though.

I could understand feeling that way about Tetris if I was really high, but when I'm normal, Tetris usually just doesn't do it for me. Frankly, I think it was rediculous to make the claim that Tetris was the "perfect game," I would never claim that any game was the "perfect game." There will always be the potential for a better game.

Tetris is remarkable in its simplicity, yes, but I don't think I'd say it's perfect I know I couldn't play Tetris for hours one end the way I could with say... Super Mario Bros?

The perfect game would be one that reads the mind of the player and it is coded in a way that it will morph into any sort of game, with everything perfectly adjusted to the players wants and likes for the moment in time they are playing it.
only way you will ever have a perfect game :p

There definetley isn't a perfect game but Bioshock, Rainbow Six Vegas 2, (Weird choice I know) Condemned 2 and Resident Evil 4 come pretty damn close.

Damn you got me, yeah it wasn't great but it was only a spin-off.

Doesn't count as a proper FF game if you get me.

I don't feel good when I play Tetris, I feel frustrated and thick.

But it is technically perfect.
