[HEADING=1]Adopt a Word from just 20 pounds[/HEADING]

Need an unusual Christmas gift idea? Adopt a Word [http://www.adoptaword.com/] is the answer and a great way to donate to charity.

All proceeds help children who struggle to find the words they need to communicate.
Now for those of us who like charity, this is a way for people to get wonderful words for themselves.

For those of us with a mean steak, you can donate a word to someone else, like "skank".

But for those without the money or will to adopt one, what word would you choose as your own, and why?

(Only one owner per word and no hyphens)

P.S. I've already adopted "evil": morally wrong or bad; wicked [http://www.adoptaword.com/word-selection.php?word=evil]

This is a really cool concept and thus I am bumping this interesting idea (and other alliterative adjectives describing this lexicon love). Now, what exactly does adopting a word entail? How long is the word adopted for? Forever? Just for that day? Do you get royalties every time someone says your buzzword? Do you become the only person who can legally say that word for the period of adoption? I'm curious about this process.

I lol'd

Buuuuuuut back on topic, I'd adopt 'Passion'. It's not like I'm attached to the meaning or any connotations, I just love how it sounds. It's such a SOFT word. Mmmmmmmm. Creamy goodness in my ears.

STARTLING EDIT OUT OF FREAKING NOWHERE:

In fact, I've decided that I'm gonna do this for my dad for Christmas. It's always nice to get people nice gifts like that. Thanks, The_root_of_all_evil!

I'd adopt "A" and get copywrite on it so when anyone uses the letter A I get 5 cents. Be rich in seconds =)

Thanks for someone picking up on it. I know charity is a little frowned upon.

IRL, you get to adopt a word for a year, and you must look after it and feed it like any other.

For the purposes of this quiz, you can get 1 penny/cent whenever someone uses it incorrectly; as you are the master of that particular word. You adopt it for a year, where you MUST use it as often as possible, correctly of course. And you are allowed to be officially the Guardian of "this word".

Pfft, we'd just use "An" instead, it'd be grammaticly inccorect but we'd adapt.

I'd buy the word GigaDrillBreaker, and make one HELLUVA good alcoholic beverage. It gets you hammered in seconds!

Interesting idea though, a kinda cutesy thing.

Well, my friend, that certainly makes a lot of cents.
I'm rather surprised that you did not buy 'time', what with you being its lord and all that. Had I the means to donate right now (paypal and my bank account did not seem to get along last time they had a 'play date') I certainly would be doing a whole lot more than simply bumping this thread.

Time is fleeting...

But, Evil is forever.

Well, I paid by credit card.

[sub]List of Escapists real names +1[/sub]

I have no monies, but I'd adopt 'there'
Just think of how much money I could get for people using it incorrectly!

Like it doesn't say so in my profile or my news items? :)
Does it? I never looked...
And it's no fun if you just look. You should have to trawl through searches/swamps/bars!

I'd adopt "Pancake". Because no word adoption agency is complete until there is a "Pancake Adopted" award hanging on the wall.

Hmm...for some reason, I have an urge to adopt the word "Edge", but I'm not sure why. Of course, this would be in effect if I had the right type of cash, but I don't. This is a good idea, but they might want to branch out to other countries. I'm sure people would have an interest.

EDIT: Gah, someone already has "edge", but for different reasons, I think.
