The first digit after the i7 is the generation and the k after the numbers means it's been unlocked, so it can be overclocked

Oh. The unlocked part sounded vaguely familiar, but I wasn't aware of the gen thing. Thanks, that should make it considerably easier to keep track of. I'd previously just assumed a higher number was better, but I made that mistake with a few graphics cards and nooooooooope nopenope no.

All the i7 5xxx have less processing power than the i7 4xxx but they require less watts than the 4th. Another great move from intel.

...A'ight. Evidently it is not yet time to upgrade, so I shall bide my time.

OT: An indoor tube farm, complete with obstacle course, flying fox, spiral slide, rickety rope bridge and ball pit.
