http://www.gametrailers.com/videos/q2crv4/the-phantom-pain-vga-2012--world-premiere-trailer

I just saw this for the first time today and had never heard anything about it. One of the most unique and intense trailer I have ever seen though. Also I would like to say that after watching the trailers from the VGA awards(Tomb Raider, Last of Us, Phantom Pain, South Park and Dark Souls especially) I am feeling pretty hyped that 2013 is going to be an amazing year for gaming.

EDIT: Oh and the Castlevania2 trailer was pretty awesome as well.

After that trailer, I can not wait.

The trailer alone was so god damn intense, I hope the whole game is like that.

Metal Gear Solid 5 looks awesome.

Hmm I'll have to get a further look at this one to be interested in it at all. It would be great if the trailer showed more of the gameplay, unless all of the gameplay is stumbling around awkwardly while watching people get massacred by guys with guns.

Don't get your hopes up for a new IP or anything. It's just a fake trailer to hype up the new Metal Gear Solid.

There's a thread on neogaf showing all the hints in the trailer: http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=503254

Well yeah, it is Metal Gear Solid 5.

But it looks amazing from just that trailer.

Which means there is 2 more MGS games, Ground Zeroes and MGS5, seeing as (if I remember correctly) Ground Zeroes isn't MGS5.

I watched that and thought it looked eerily like Snake from the back.

Although if MGS5 doesn't contain a giant fire Whale I will be disappointed.

I'm kind of sad that it's an MGS game to be honest. It looked like a really cool idea for a sort of Silent Hill-ish Lovecraftian horror almost.
Chances are that all of that will be thrown away for more of Kojima's paranoid conspiracy babble.

Insert one-liner here.

I dont think Kojima numbers his sequels/prequels/midquels anymore. A few years ago, Peace Walker almost became MGS5. It didnt, and thats all there really is to say.

Other than that Kojima is a realatively small developer and i doubt they have the manpower to be working on 2 full titles. Especially given the scope of Metal Gear games in the past.

THough, seriously, offically slapping a number on it would have made gamers like "Whut?" if it was revealed as a PSP exclusive....actually, it would have confused them because MGS4 really seemed like the end of MGS and yet another sequel is already coming underway and they would have been like "dufuq was the point of wrapping everything up then?".

I loved Peace Walker but it doesn't change the fact that KP has been walking on thin ice ever since they advertised and written 4 as The End. You'd think they'd listen to a certain fictional character and actually move on to a new chapter of their lives instead of meddling with the past, rather it was a conceptually rebooted Metal Gear or a new IP.

I'm too busy laughing at this story.

I think I'm more excited on what's going to happen next than for the actual game.
