Does anybody else think these things just ooze character?

To me they are very representative of an era and even though I didn't actually play them too much when I was a kid, I can remember them being in the arcades and the odd milk bar or service station. The flashing lights, the loud bumpers, the dot matrix screens and the scores that would often go into the many millions are some of the things I remember when on the odd occasion I played or watched someone play in between my NBA JAM and Streetfighter playing.

Unfortunately, now I rarely see them. All the arcades are closed and the old milk bars and service stations that used to have them are now either not there or been bought out by some bigger company. I was looking on ebay and it appears by the price some of these things are going for I am not alone in thinking these things have a ton of character. Alot of people just have them as ornaments in their living rooms and the rarer they become, the better investment they become.

Even crappy ones were selling for around $2000 so alot of work would have to go into restoring one. Does anyone here have any experienc withthis? I know they are very complex beasts, with all the moving parts and electronics but restoring one to full working order would be very rewarding.
