I've read a lot about the two and now I know that Point Lookout is better play. But my question is are the rewards after wards worth it? MY character is stealth based and so the Infiltrator would really some in handy. However I've heard bad things about the game play. The opposite however goes for Point Lookout. The gameplay is supposed to be amazing, but the items you come back with seem...mediocre. So which should I buy?

I'd go with Point Lookout, whilst you can get a few extra kicks from The Pitt, Lookout will probably last you longer.
Why get some swanky new armour if you're limited to it's use?

Time > all.

Point lookout. Although it takes you out of the Fallout universe it actually has some npc's that have some personality. Don't get me wrong, they are both shit, but point lookout is less shitty than the pitt.

Erm... I probably shouldn't have much say in this as I haven't finished Point Lookout yet (there was an issue with WindowsLIVE) but I can tell you that as a stealth player, the Infiltrator is pretty average. Of course you might find it's to your liking, but I haven't used it since I left the Pitt - and I think I only tried it once there. There are other cool things to gain from the Pitt - when I was there I f*cking loved using the Man-Opener (though I don't use it so much now, me being a stealth-based character, not unless I'm just mucking about). I must agree with what you've said though - Point Lookout does seem to play better, honestly, I wasn't that fond of the Pitt, it was a nice change, but I haven't returned since. And the Pitt does give you a shed load of (I think) fairly useful perks.(Though it's yet to be decided if I'll return to Point Lookout after I've done the quests.)

My recomendation would be to get both - their both fun (from what I've played) and definitely worth the 800 points each (?) - if only for a change from the Wasteland, few added bonuses and added gameplay time.

Point Lookout is fun, and the main quest for it is probably one of the best quest in the game (including all the DLC's), but as for rewards, the Pitt is way better... I still use the Perforator (unique Infiltrator) and Metal Blaster (unique Laser Rifle) most of the time... Would use the Mauler too, but I love the Shishkebab too much...

The Infiltrator is shit, if you don't kill them with your first shot, they just scream and alert all their buddys... Stealth in that game is Sheee-iiit

Maybe you're character just isn't build for Stealth. I've got the Chinese stealth armor and 100 skill in Sneak and I have taken out an entire metro full of Super Mutants without being detected.

The Pitt. While Point Lookout might last a bit longer, The Pitt is more fun to play, look at and to get into as well.

Further, the rewards and equipment for The Pitt are a hell of a lot more useful.

Neither is really suited for stealth play though, as both have ways to make stealth basically useless, or take it away from you completely.

I loved the Pitt and found Point Lookout to be average. Still good, but I'd say Pitt is better. Kudos for Bethesda for managing to make a place even more depressing than the Capital Wasteland.

Be warned, don't even bother with the Infiltrators unless you're willing to find 90 Steel Ingots to get the Perforator. Normal ones are too inaccurate and not powerful enough. As it stands, the Perforator is only good until Level 15 or so, at which point it becomes better to just use Melee weapons. Note, The Mauler, a unique Auto Axe (you need to find some Ingots for that as well) is good for that as well, so long as you use it in VATS for stealth attacks.

Nobody had yet mentioned the best reward in Point Lookout yet:

The Backwater Rifle.

This has suberb accuracy, does similar damage to Lincoln's repeater, can be repaired with the lever action rifles (which are infinite) and it uses the ever plentiful 10mm rounds.

It has become my first weapon of choice for long range battle.

Also, the main mission in Point Lookout has in my opinion the best moment in Fallout 3 so far, wierd wonderful and creepy.
