Now, being the hockey nut that I am, and staying up late to watch the NHL playoffs (sometimes required to do so by my job, even, but then again all the baseball and basketball I sometimes have to watch the excitement kind of evens out, bleh), I've noticed this ritual those players have, that once the playoffs start they stop shaving their beards until they are either knocked out or win the flippin' Stanley cup.
Taking the concept out of the sports scene, I wonder if anyone else ever was in a position when they're went "I'm not going to do X until Y happens", when Y is something important to them and X is something mundane. (I hope in that case, however, that X isn't "take a bath" and Y "we make contact with aliens". That'd be silly.)
