In the shower I feel the most free
Trapped behind sliding glass doors
The gentle rhythm of the water
Fire soaking into my silky skin
Where I can feel my dirtiest
Cleansed under the constant flow
"When you're strange, faces come out of the rain.
When you're strange, no one remembers your name."
-The Doors, People are Strange
Seeking to hold onto my madness
Sanity showing me the way
Wearing my most handsome of clothes
Naked among the soapy suds
The water gradually wants to cool
Burning my soul as it goes
"I don't suffer from insanity,
I enjoy every minute of it."
-Author Unknown
I am constantly on the run
Standing among the porcelain
My mind clasping to tightly stay
Escaping into the portal of my dreams
Constantly searching for the light
Darkness of my inner night
"Though this be madness,
yet there is method in it."
-Shakespeare, Hamlet
Here I can wait patiently
Impatiently trying to find my way
In my shower I know I can be free
Imprisoned behind sliding glass doors
I gave you all I had
Nurtured you and let you grow
But you merely drank my water
And killed my garden
The garden I made for you
You sucked my blood so sweetly
You drained my life
And I loved it
I loved the lie you told
As I withered away
Like the flowers you?ve slain
The flowers I slaved over
For you
You sucked out their life
You drained my blood so sweetly
And now I have no garden
Just a weed
A beautiful,
Horrible,
Weed.
I like this, I love the imagery (I hate talking about poetry, it makes me feel like such a pretentious git). Some of the lines are brilliant.
Only thing I wasn't too keen on was 'sucked my blood... sweetly' - neither instance in which it (the word 'sweetly') was used really did it for me. That is the only criticism though (I didn't just want to make a post saying 'yeah, really good' and no criticism as I thought that might sound a bit bland/insincere).
[Edit:] Also, bear in mind that I know next to nothing about poetry.
Yea, but the reason I said sweetly was that although she was lying to me and hurting me, I still stayed with her because of how much I loved her. (If that makes any sense)
