The power is out...

Usually read, because hey, good excuse to read. Even if I lacked any light, I have a kindle with a reading light.

Otherwise, I can play a game on my phone or tablet. If I'm with friends, we turn on a flashlight or open a window, and keep playing board games or poker. Or, I figure that its a good time to go for a run.

Basically, a power outage means its a bit darker, have a smaller screen, and I eat food that's cold. Ive done this for weeks before.

Ptfff, puhleeze, a few days ago, the power was out for about 18 hours (!), due to a storm akin to a hurricane.

Good thing I had my Android tablet lying around, but... it was half-charged :S

I wait a few minutes to see if it comes on.

I then get candles and torches setup in main rooms.

Then I make a drink and talk to family.

The very few power outs we have here are an hour or less. Normally at night as that's when we get bad weather.

Watch a movie on my laptop! Then play my handhelds! If it's not too dark when the power goes out, read until it is then do the other two. If the power is still out and it's dark... lay in the dark and lament about how much I need a flashlight as well.

More or less this plus lamenting no fan/air-conditioning, except that was before I moved to the US for school last year. FPL has been out for literally a second or two maybe twice (that I know of) before being back on in my area and it's a big contrast to the power being cut off at the second crack of thunder back in the islands.
