But my, my. How good does next week look?
1. River is FINALLY back.
2. Angels.
3. Proper Angels (timeline altering, not murderous).
4. Baby Angels!
5. It's the last one, something worthwhile has to finally happen.
I'm definitely interested in the Angels returning, but I could give to craps about River.

She was an interesting and mysterious character in the Tennant era, but when the writers blundered her story by making her Amy and Rory's child, with all that time baby nonsense, I lost all caring for her.

It would have been much more interesting if she had been some Time Lord from the Doctor's past.

This episode was... really boring. Like, I almost didn't want to finish it. The pacing was just weird. And the 'threat' that the Shakri posed really didn't feel that threatening at all.

And what's with the deus ex machina at the end? Oh, a bunch of people dying in the streets? Well, let me just bring them back from the dead by... restarting their hearts. I just. I don't buy that. I can't buy that. Most of those people must have actually perished before the Doctor got to the terminal. (They were having quite the little chat up there.)

Well, we'll find out soon enough, when The Angels Take Manhattan. (Hmm ... Manhattan, eh? Think we'll run into any Daleks?)
Ugh. That's the first thing I thought of when I learned the name of the new episode. But that was actually a good episode.

Moffat already ruined the Angels for me with The Time of Angels/Flesh and Stone. With the way this season (or even, this Doctor) is going so far (namely, dragging its feet) I really don't expect much from it.

DW has always been a cheap and badly put together, i don't know how they have the nerve to call it sci fi. america might not know how tell the difference between their allies and the enemy.
but at least they got their sci fi shows right.
the acting on DW is worse than hollyoaks

I will admit that the mystery of who she was is what made her interesting initially but I've just grown really fond of her. The baby-plot was... odd but it still made sense. Well, Moffat-sense.

I can live with Matt Smith replacing Tennant as the Doctor, but it's Steven Moffat. He can't write Doctor Who, that is, he doesn't have the skill/talent/grasp to. The series took a pretty steep downward turn when he took over as head writer. He isn't up to the task. Maybe if they replace him there will be less convoluted and more engaging.
And my opinion is that I am glad RTD is gone. The best RTD era episodes were not written by him imo.
In fact, it's interesting to note that many of the best episodes of the RTD era (Blink and Silence in the Library spring to mind) were written by Moffat. The man can write Doctor Who very, very well. He just seems to have a bit of a penchant for overdoing things without someone to reign him back every now and then, but I still vastly prefer him to RTD.

Also, I, too, do not understand the River hate. She's rather like a female Captain Jack Harkness, with roughly the same amount of flirting between her and the Doctor.

[quote="Gizmo1990" post="6.389476.15618857"On the one hand I am happy that the Ponds are going (Hopfully being killed so they cannot possible return) on the other had River Song is in the episode and I hate her more than a gunshot to the balls. Here is hoping that, with the Ponds gone, River will not turn up any more.[/quote]
whats wrong with the ponds? i love the ponds, and im gonna be really sad to see them go. theyve been the longest running companions of any of the new series, and im definitely gonna miss them. although, River was getting a little boring, and i'll be glad when shes gone (though, in my opinion, gunshot to the balls is a little extreme)

I liked this the power of 3. i thought it was pretty funny and had an ace plot, until the last few minutes. really that one needed to be a 2-parter. the ending was pretty disappointing compared to the rest of the episode. And is it just me getting too old for dr who, or was the ending line (the meaning of cubed: the power of 3) reeeeaaaaaallly cheesey. I mean, i literally winced at it

Even if the ponds die, I really would like Brian to have a chance to come back. I just can't say enough how much I like his character. XD
Him and Wilfred too. The Doctor, Brian and Wilfred. That would be amazing fun.

The Brigadier never actually appeared in New Who
True, but he did appear in the Sarah Jane spinoff. I haven't watched much of that, but I did check out that clip on Youtube. Let me see... oh.

Ninja:
I see someone else already pointed this out. Ah well.

Anyway - it is a scene worth seeing for any Classic Who fan. It is a TEARJERKER - particularly since both actors died shortly thereafter.

Edit: That isn't the clip I was talking about. Let me see if I can find it....

Edit2: I have failed to find it. It's the party where Sarah Jane walks in and hugs him, and they talk. I get the impression that other stuff happens with him later, but that talk they have... it was very sweet.

If anyone else has a link to that part, please post it.

Since I just saw the episode, and there were no Daleks in it, I can safely say this is not the case.

On the other hand... I can just imagine it.

Angel, speaking through Radio: "Do you expect to destroy all the Angels in Manhattan with just four Daleks?"

Dalek: "No. We expect to destroy all the Angels in Manhattan with just ONE DALEK. EXTERMINATE!"

And yes, I still love that quote to death.

I absolutely love this episode, it was so fun imaging the way humans would react to cubes that just... do nothing... And the cameos from Alan Sugar and Brian Cox were fantastic.

I was a little disappointed with the resolution of the mystery, because it made the set up a little less cool. It would have been better if it some how tied into the cubes more, maybe they just disappeared, maybe they're conducting an elaborate pyschological experiment (I liked that bit, with the cubes all doing different weird things) and it would have been nice if that was the purpose than straight up invasion.

Also I feel it's generally a problem of new who that they struggle to find ways to resolve episode (particularly the one parters) that don't just feel like the Doctor is getting out the techno-babble because we've been entertained for 40 minutes and it's time to wrap things up. It rarely feels like the answer stems from anything
