Some people feel powerless in thier lives and thus live out power fantasies by doing very petty things for example:
Child X wants to have a Bagel for Desert, Stepfather Y lives an unfuffiling life at a dead end Job with little to no future, Stepfather Y is very angry and needs to exert control over something. End result: No Bagel for Child X. Child X asks for reasoning and is given none. Stepfather Y is a douchebag.

Now Child X is very upset. Child X grabs Kitchen Knife. Stepfather Y loses his Jugular.

Thoughts?

The powerless rise up and attempt a glorious revolution, but fail because they are powerless leaving the world for us powerful people?

Maybe not over a bagel... The powerless might have no power because they don't know how to use it. If they can use power wisely then they will get it.

Killing over a bagel... a bit ridiculous, but I've seen worse things.
I think that if Child X wants the bagel, he/she should be given the bagel. This is assuming, of course, that Stepfather Y ever intended to give dessert in the first place; if not, he should at least give a reason why, even if the reason is "Because I'm a sadist and the last thing i want to do is make your life easy."

And the scenario is a shining example of poor choice. But wouldn't that make the father powerless as well, so the one with the power is the poster! Oh no he's going to use his power on us all :p.

It isn't that the powerless need power, and it isn't that the powerful need their power taken away. It is that those unfit to wield power should have none while those who are responsible enough to not abuse their power should be given it.

The right to power has nothing to do with the amount of power one has, but rather how that person would use it. It is like maturity and age, they can co-exist but one isn't necessary for the other to exist.

I think child X needs to get over his god damn weird choice of dessert, go up stairs and play Assassins creed 2. He can de-jugular* as many people as he wants in that game

*A new word I invented

?Inferiors revolt in order that they may be equal, and equals that they may be superior?

So wait... he kills his stepfather over a bagel? Must be one awesome bagel... I want this alleged bagel now and I'll kill anyone for it!

OT: That doesn't sound like a powerless kid, that sounds more like a deranged kid that hears voices telling him to burn stuff.

The powerless always become what they hate and fear-tyrants.
True enough, we've seen that enough times. The only difference between the powerful and powerless is just that: power.
